RE: Lamborghini Urus: Driven

V8? V10?
Nah, should have used the V12 with a couple of turbos.
It's a vastly more expensive equivalent of when Jaguar did the X-Type, but you couldn't help but think "Mondeo" whenever you saw one. As it is, this is an Audi with a flash interior.
Oh... "Wot no manual version?" "What image will this give me?" " but it's not as fast as a 335d (remapped) is it?"

I'll never be able to afford one, but if I could I'd never buy one. It's a vehicle with the main purpose of screaming "look at me". And I would know most people looking at me would be thinking "*anker". Because if I was looking at me driving it, that's what I would be thinking as well.

Pushing on in the Urus is not unlike watching an enormous CGI battle scene; all the right components have been expensively assembled for your enjoyment, but then it all happens too fluently and fiercely for its own good and you find yourself thinking about cheese nachos.
THIS is a PH metaphor Mr Cackett, this is the tone you're looking for on here. 10/10Thought that the Bentley vs Nomad vs 570S was much better, if still a bit fussy at points, but this is the sort of straight forward talk and humour that we like on here.
This is one of the most enjoyable pieces I've read on PH for some time and is a wonderful description of the reporter's experience of the car. Thank you.
Although I have next to no chance of driving an Urus, I can imagine myself reaching similar conclusions about it if I did. It is a pointless car for 99% of us but I would rather see these on the road than the likes of a VW Touareg (large, pointless and boring), Merc ML (ditto), Audi Q8 or BMW X6 (both large, pointless and less spectacular for passers-by).
To me it looks 'efficient' with 'dramatic' additions bolted on. At its core it appears more Kia Sportage than Lambo but with an attempt to make it more Lamboesque as a secondary value.
Yep no doubt supremely fast and quite possibly reliable but it strikes me as a car which you'd be happy for it to get dirty and maybe not even live in the garage.. It's not special.

It'll sell like mad but pollute one of vag's most unique brands for a pointless short term cash grab.
In the same way the Cayenne was seen as a "short-term cash grab"...!!People just do not get it. Lamborghini did NOT want to make an SUV but they have shareholders and the shareholders have the power. The shareholders have to be listened to and when the shareholders see everyone selling 1000's SUV's, Lamborghini has an obligation to get on board.
Like it or not, it is a commercial decision that has been forced upon them. Everyone is answerable to someone (shareholders).
Ferrari is next. They have been/are being forced into it...

It's an Audi with a flash interior? Also, different body panels. And suspension. And wheels. Oh, and brakes. Oh, the engine has been reworked too. But yes, that aside, they're identical!! I'm sure if you parked them side-by-side on a high street EVERYONE would think it's an Audi Q5, for sure! Secondly, did you read the review? It sounds like it drives dramatically different from the Audi, too....which would indicate it isn't just the interior, wouldn't it?Nah, should have used the V12 with a couple of turbos.

Was having a look at one in Lamborghini Leicester yesterday, and the one on their shop floor was £217k
Total payable - A quarter of a Million quid Total madness to my mind.
2 of the UK's first owners sum up the image of this - 'Lord' Aleem and the Yiannimize bloke.
If you want a bonkers fast family, dog in the boot, vehicle an RS6 or E63S will do that for a fraction of the price.
Forget the 'off road' bit. That won't ever happen except for a brief drive over the grass at little Calista's gymkhana.
Seen a couple on the road round my way, ashamed to admit that I thought the dark grey looked pretty good in an over the top stealth bomber meets shopping trolley kind of way.
Then I saw one come past last week wrapped in green mirror chrome, and threw up a bit in my mouth.
Edit- looks like i saw that yianni-something one, turquoise chrome, yuck...same stupid tinted number plates too.

Having seen a few of these yesterday I'd say they just aren't Lambo enough, it needs scissor doors or rear doors like the Tesla, in the flesh they just don't look that special, and certainly not £200k+ special.
I'll never be in the market for one so my views don't really account for much but I think in the world of off roaders that are never going to go off road I'd rather have a Toyota CH-R at £25k and enough change for a Huracan

Just what I've been waiting for. Finally there's a car on the road I can buy that will make me look like an even bigger c**t than I currently do in my Bentley Bentayga.
I love how people judge people by the cars they drive. In the last 20 years I've owned (not financed or leased), but not limited to, the following:
e39 M5
550 Maranello
EVO 5 & 6
SL65 AMG
Cayenne Turbo
MX5
Lancia Integrale
1978 500SL
968CS
Renault Turbo2
964rs (should not have sold!!)
Ferrari 458
Lamborghini Gallardo
Porsche 996 Gt2
Bentley Bentayga
F355
Land Rover Defender 1982
It's very funny, in an utterly simplistic manner that people judge others by the cars they drive. Last week I drove the Bentley. 968CS and SL in the same day. None of the above were "Garage Queens" and all had (with the exception of the RT2) min.10k miles put on them by me/family and all were owned for between 2-20+ years (SL)
What does that make me in your ever so basic, stereotyping narrow mind? An utter C**t?
Have you thought about becoming an FBI profiler hahahahahahhahahahhahahahahhahahhahahaha...wally.

So much hate from sad people on here. I mean "If people insist on driving these overweight monstrosities" I mean, come on. We all like different things. It's not to my taste but jeez, if someone wants it, then fair play. At least you can see them in car park spaces....unlike little cars which you don't, you approach and think "oooh, there's a space" only to find it's been filled with a stupid MX-5
I hate it because it's a VAG clone, not because it's an SUV.The world would be a brighter and wackier place if Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini and VAG had all been individual manufacturers solving the SUV in their own idiosyncratic ways. As we have it, they're given a platform and some transmission hardware by Daddy and told do what you can with that.

Agree. There were quite a few here (St. Moritz) last weekend and in a dark colour you'd hardly give them a second glance. I expect this winter the roads will be full of them, even before Lamborghini have their winter 'pop up shop' in the village.7795 said:
