But the test bike isn't the original machine. The one I owned had at 20k already knocked out its timing chain( they all do that Sir, BMW dealer) and had the most uncomfortable (red/orange)seat I've ever sat on, the bars were too wide to filter through traffic but it could wheelie easily! not a keeper.

Enjoyed reading that Tone! Not quite clear precisely which year this premature Paralever model was built though. And shame on you for not mentioning the immortal Herbert Schek, the first man to ride a BMW off roader really competitively way back in the 1970s in the ISDT, who went on to build Hubert Auriol's Dakar-winning bike! (Also the father of Patrizia Schek who rode a BMW in the Dakar herself!) PNB
