RE: Audi TT Quattro Sport: Spotted
Discussion
I had one of these when they launched. It was a hoot. Especially getting your mates in the back. But hey ho. Those seats are pretty unforgiving, especially if you're on the wider-side, but it went well.
I preferred it to the 3.2 version with the paddles, which didn't suit the car at all.
To answer someone else - yes, different grilles and spoiler.

The only MK1 worth more than banger money, and that includes most V6's, dont pay over the odds for one of those, nice enough but even more of a minefield than the turbo models.
I did like my mk1 even though it was a hound that kept breaking, they arent the last word in feedback but I found it enjoyable, my 350Z was a bit more engaging but totally different proposition.
The QS seems to be generally better looked after than the average model, but even so all the stuff around the engine is pretty flaky, numerous valves with N and then a number, coil packs, boost leaks, misfires etc. You need a VAG Com lead and laptop otherwise it will be in the garage costing a fortune.
Not sure I would buy another, QS is more a weekend car now, keep the miles and salt off to keep its value, but do you really want to tuck a TT away for weekends ? if you are going to all that expense and extra space, get something less sensible than a TT with weird seats.
The do look great though, I bought mine as it had proper QS alloys and forgot the bit about checking if it was fked

I did 126k in a 1.8T mapped to 210 in my Mk1 Octy vRS. Never put a foot wrong. No electrics, no coil packs just one small piece of vac hose needed changing. Good engine if slighlty uncharismatic.
I've driven a standard mk1 225 TT and a standard mk2 fwd TT. The mk2 was surprisingly brisk with good front end traction. I like them but 10k gives a lot of possibilities for me.

Am I going crazy? This car looks completely different from any mk1 I've seen. Its headlights / bumpers look different. Maybe just because it is clean. Was there a very late facelift?
It has the bodykit from the V6 eg https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...JMF894 said:

Drove a 225 TT, thought my Cupra R was better. That's why I don't understand why I still prefer the TT.
I always wanted a Cupra, but the lack of Xenon lights always put me off.blah hids blah blah hids blah.

It makes me laugh that you can pick up one of them for less than a Mk4 Golf GTi as the Cupra R was a better car in everyway.

Always a surprise to see a car I owned for 3 years and sold 12 months ago pop up in the classifieds... ??
Are you saying it was yours? Some feedback probably wouldn't hurt either, chap.

Its a rare car but at this price point so many more appealing possibilities!
If I was going to buy a TT it would probably be the Mk2 TTs. Much faster than the Mk1 Sport, better all round package with rear seats and I've found for the same money as this TT Sport, a 2008 69,0000 miler on autotrader. Admittedly that car will depreciate further.
...alternatively, if you only need two seats, from 2004, how about a Porsche Boxster 3.2S Anniversary edition, 57,000 miles, £7850- Autotrader. No contest in my book! Or, a 2005 Nissan 350Z, one owner, 28,000 miles, only £5900.
Yep, makes this TT seem a tad expensive IMHO!!
Agreed. That QS is a nice looking car... but £10k buys an awful lot of used car...If I was going to buy a TT it would probably be the Mk2 TTs.
