I will be interested to try the M140i successor, I cant imagine it will be turkey, I reckon it will be around 350 bhp and 4wd.

18” front discs? fk me sideways. Is it down to weight, or are BMW trying to consign fade to the history books?

The discs for my M6 are around 15” (and £500), what are these going to cost? eek

18 inch front disks ? is that correct, what size are the wheels ?

Pretty obvious the next gen M135i/M140i will be this engine with the wick turned up.
As above - I can't believe that's true. Thats 457mm!
Calipers look identical to those on the M135i/M140i.
Even if they're using the larger disk size (from things like the M4 and the M Performance brake kit), they'd only be 370mm.
Clearly it's bks. No car has 18" discs.

When did BMW become so boring? All their cars are the same, they're pushing more FWD, and their cars all seem very dull.
This car is front transverse engined and 4WD.

All their cars are the same? How many of their cars are like this? laugh
Yep, this is IDENTICAL to an I8 roadster hehe

Where does it say that for this car? Or are you just using a moniker they used about 2 decades ago? Genuine question by the way smile

They still use it now. I saw it on a bill-board a few weeks ago.

Not for this model though.

It's a Nice Mini Countryman Cooper S but that market will want a manual. I foresee the roads packed with faux SUV's all struggling to get though snowy roads but everybody can see into next doors garden while taking no notice of the road ahead. Probably kill off Older drivers as they won't be able to get in either.

I absolutely love this, and I’m currently waiting to jump on a late F80 M3 when one comes up.

It’d be a perfect car for the missus, couldn’t afford it as a second car though.

Never used to be a fan of these faux SUV's but i'm coming around more and more to them. Especially like the look of this X2 and Mercedes GLC coupe... both stunning and muscular in my eyes! shame this doesn't have a 6 cylinder but I assume it will get one in 40i guise at some point? MPG wise this will do the same, if not worse than the 6 cylinder engine in real world terms so I just don't see the point bar BS Marketing/Environmentals.

The interiors on BMW's really are falling behind though, the X2 is a brand new model yet it has the interior from a 2012 1 series still bar the steering wheel (which came out in 2014)....

Doubt it. I don't think the six-pot will fit in BMW's transverse architecture.

They got it straight off the BMW UK press release: https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/united-kingdom/arti...

Still bks though... got to be! Evo magazine says it comes as standard with 19in wheels, and 20in's are optional.

What an awful, drab looking vehicle. Maybe it's better looking in a different colour but I suppose that's irrelevant, I'm sure it will hit the sales targets.
Without the I6, BMW puts this uncomfortably close to the SQ3 surely?

This, like the X1, 1 series hatchback, 2 series Active/Gran tourers and all minis will not be getting anything bigger than a 4 pot transverse (sideways mounted in the bay for chap that admitted not knowing) and will all be fwd based.

Excellent! at last a competitor for the RSQ3 and in some respects GLA 45.

It matches the Audi for power, but will obviously need a bit more tweaking to get to the 355bhp of the Merc.

Now I don't need the size of an X3 the nearest was an X1 25d, which after 300+ bhp is not an attractive proposition. So let's see if they put the same engine into the X1.

X2 M(arketing)35i, sacrilege! Ruining the M badge further.

As for 18 inch rotors I'm calling (slightly nsfw)

I actually think it looks pretty smart in that spec. Ultimately though this is all very depressing, the day you cant get a straight six in a new BMW will be a very sad day indeed. News like this does make me appreciate the specialness of my E39 M5 though.

I don't mind the outside, I think it's the best of the X series. Sadly, the interior does nothing for me, especially that 6ft long gear knob which looks like it's off of a 90s Honda and just annoys me in the X1 and X2. Sad I know...

Oh, and that is really st badging up a 4-pot as an M car.

Last time I looked E30 M3s were four-cylinder?

It's a shame to lose the character of a big six, don't get me wrong. But VW made the transition on Golf R and I don't see sales slowing?

I followed one of these yesterday, although it was probably just the carcinogenic version that the proles will have, and I was blissfully unaware of the existence of such a thing till then. My eyes, my fking eyes!

TBF it's not the ugliest BMW ever but it's got some serious competition to beat on that score.

They never made an SQ3 iirc.
I had to check when I posted, but there is one on the way

https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/audi/q3/103182/new-h...

Not a lot to choose between them other than looks I'd guess.

The GLA 35 (assuming it appears) will be pretty close on specs, I think. The 45 is a fair step up in terms of power.
