Even if they're using the larger disk size (from things like the M4 and the M Performance brake kit), they'd only be 370mm.

As pointed out already, they are very likely the same basic parts already used on the M140i etc.
The thing that bothers me about these engines is, that all of them will be 2.0 turbo 4’s and will all sound the same, there won’t be a USP anymore, for example,
M140i, straight 6 RWD.
RS3, 2.5 5 pot AWD.
A45 2.0 4 pot AWD
In that order and the rest are all 2.0 turbos with either AWD or FWD.
They’ll all end up so similar it will be a case of who prefers the badge instead of dynamics.

The way I'm reading posts on here about BMW losing their way etc it would be as if they no longer make any straight 6 engines, which they do. It's just the names are changing. The most hilarious one was people moaning about the new 330i not having a straight 6 and it's sacrilegious etc....completely ignoring the face they make a 340i

Still struggling to understand why there is so much absolute hatred towards a certain type of car. Do people get this much irrational hatred to other inanimate objects? Do you hate certain types of watches that annoy you this much? What about certain clothes? If you don't like it, fine....but there's so much hatred i really struggle to understand why. If you don't like it, don't buy it (this isn't just a dig at you binnerboy, just everyone who seems to get somewhat wound up by SUVs in general).

I agree. All very lacklustre from both a power and noise viewpoint. You had to get into a 320i to feel something.I've driven a new 530e with a 2.0 mill. The 5 series (my own F11 included) has become such a cosseted place to be that you mostly don't notice what the engine is doing / what it sounds like, but you enjoy the grunt from it. I'm guessing that there will be a performance exhaust for this particular X2 before too long - it'll be partly aimed at the people who outgrow their F20/F21 140i.

The issue for me is not that it only has 4 cyls, but the fact that those cyls are crosswise at the front!
The reason BMWs used to handle well (even the not very sporty ones, like bogo 116i for example) is because they have a fundamentally good mass distribution. Slinging the engine cross the front, and even worse, sticking on the side of it a huge 4wd transmission is NOT a recipe for a nice car to drive.......

Was this the beginning of the end then? The M Sport badge is far removed from an M Car and has been for a long time, but then, you'd know that wouldn't you....
I'm just frustrated that BMW have taken so long to produce an alternative for the A45, and in that time the Merc has evolved even further, so they're playing catch-up again. And has someone else has pointed out even the Audi RSQ3 has more grunt now.
Any comments about the sell-out of the AMG brand and why is an SUV considered an Audi RS? It's all just marketing boll*cks - suck it up and move on
