I enjoyed it too. I can't say I found it especially hard-going to read.

Problem is Nickk Cackkit thinks he is an old motoring journalist from the past who looked liked Gandalf ; you know the one I mean.

When I read these two words

"furiously emulate"

you know you are Nic Crapit land when the Oxford dictionary comes out.

The puzzle of course is why he is at Pistonheads, which has always notoriously been down to earth warts and all. Jeez, he even has me doing it now, no need for notoriously or warts and all. Let me re-write that

The puzzle of course is why he is at Pistonheads, which has always been down to earth?

Can someone do a crowd funding page to sponsor him to do a 37 000 word expose on the Sinclair C5 in Syria?

The funny thing is they shuffled him off to PH from Autocar. The powers to be at Haymarket or whoever are obviously as idiotic as most out of touch bosses.

Meanwhile.

The photography of the two green cars was fantastic and it could have been a great little and large comparison of two very different AMG cars.

But wasn't
I managed to read it OK, don't mind different writing styles every now and again. It seems to be a feature of every article now that the writer must be slated for his or her style.

Could be worse, I leaned what 'murdered out' means today. We could have articles that are more like that, give me furiously emulate any day.

Not may cars can carry off that shade of metallic green. These two can and both look bright, capable and purposeful. I would venture that the Octavia VRS carries it off well too.

I definitely need to scratch that AMG itch next. Whilst both of these cars would look good on the drive, I’m afraid the C63 fits the grown up, non flashy, practical bill better.
When you look at the cost of used A45’s mate the W204 C63’s are fantastic value for money in comparison.
Yes it may not have the precision or AWD wet road capability (or good mpg lol) but what it lacks there it more than makes up for in character, massive torque reserves and practicality.

I don't care what you think - I enjoyed this article thoroughly.

Don't like Nick? Go elsewhere as this site is free and unless you're prepared to pay to read the site then any complaints about writer are irrelevant.
The site being free doesn't preclude it from criticism. The air I breathe is free, yet I'll damn well complain if it's full of bloody ste.

This article could have been fun and full of interesting bits. Instead it's a few paragraphs of thesaurus bingo that could have been written by anyone who hadn't stepped inside either car.

That could wash in a review by the Mirror or something, but, this is a site for enthusiasts. Stands to reason we might want a bit more nerd than the average YouTube viewer.
Don't like the air you breathe? Move.

Don't like the article? Don't read it.

How do you know you don't like the article, until you've read some of it?

The near constant “I couldn’t read this” really is very tiresome.

Yes, you could.

The whining from the cod journos spoils the site far more than the articles they histrionically critique.

I think the point is that for a 0.6 seconds difference 0-60 there is a £100,000 difference. Yes, we all know that there are different levels of beauty displayed by both of these machines. No doubt the 45 has less beauty. However, it allows us mere mortals to access real AMG motoring with something approaching supercar performance for the price of a high spec, fully optioned diseasal variance. The AMG45 is genius. I only wish/hope that it moves from my 'love to have' radar to a possession. Proper machine that it is.

Give me an AMG45 and pit me against the GTR down the lanes where I live and I have no doubt that I'd have a pint in my hand well before the GTR has parked.

I sold my Mountune’d Mk3 Focus RS for one and best thing I ever did. The car has way more personality than my e92 M3 did - yes it’s not a surgeons scalpel like the M cars are but as a road car there’s not much out there to rival it provided you don’t have to commute long distance wink
Thanks for the feedback, very useful.

You'd be buying a significantly older W204 C63 for the same money though and one thats likely to be well outside any hope of manufacturers extended warranty, which is worth factoring in to the equation.

Like for like the C63 is the way better car, but you'd need to factor in spending ££,£££+ more to get the same year / miles car. frown

I think while you're right, none of that affects the sensations from behind the wheel. I don't drive a car through a corner and think "hmm, is my warranty in place". The flip side of your point would be, okay, no warranty (old car), so you buy it for less money up front. To that I would say, so what?

Back to the point. The article says "But which end of Affalterbach's extensive range best defines it in 2018?" in the headline, doesn't it? I still don't see a definitive answer to the articles own question???
