Best. Shed. Evah.

I'm planning to leap right in at the deep end this Christmas and make my first Jaguar an X351 XJR, but how cool would it be to ease myself in to ownership with one of these?

Edit: It better be gone by payday or I'm having that.

I bloody love these & it's a good job I'm currently skint as I'd love to add this to my fleet. You've got to have an old XJ at least once in your life haven't you!!!

A friend had one of these and drove it back and forth to Italy for work, eventually putting ~300,000 miles on it. He bent my ear continuously about my buying one, but all the ones I looked at were utter heaps. In the end I bought an XF-R, which (other than the 'meh' looks) I adore.

Sorry to anybody seeing the wrong link, everything should be pointing to the XJR now. Me being a dunce - apologies!

Here it is too, still available: https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

Shows the handbrake works though.
Yeah, all pics were in portrait and we needed them in landscape... Merely a photoshop rotate, from memory East Yorkshire was pretty flat so hopefully not much stress on the handbrake!

Utterly fantastic shed. Luxury, power and the potential to run up bills that would bankrupt a small country. Really tempted.
that would just be the petrol bills!!!
Economy in the high teens if you have a light right foot... redface

I love this. Fantastic car, wonderful colour.

Crusty old Jag in a bit crusty shocker !

A few quid on bodywork, if the basics are right and it can still be a cheap car, or just buy it and run it.

"A few quid"? What's lurking beneath all that filler that's pushing out, round by the door. Not metal, that's for sure.

And if the arches are that bad, what else has been bodged over? No MOT advisories for rot, surprisingly.

What a lovely old thing. Got to be worth the asking price in parts if anything catastrophic fails.

Buy it, run it for a year and see what happens.

Exactly. Come on PH, get your act together! Some of the gaffes in recent articles have been embarrassing and would shame the Daily Mirror, let alone a website supposedly dedicated to performance car enthusiasts!

Lovely, although ridiculous photos....can't the seller take photos at an angle where you don't have to tilt your head 45 degrees?

Mega shed, chaps. Been racking my memory to find a more powerful shed and all I can find is XJRs...

Like this one from 2012...

....but that one does lead you to an E34 M5

Got to be more powerful, surely? Nope. This was the 311bhp version and not the later 340bhp 3.8.

Also... how likely is it you'd find an E34 for £1k these days? Jeez...

I agree, possibly the best shed ever!

Aquamarine really suits these early XJRs. And they are pretty much bulletproof - the body and paintwork lacquer will let these down, but if looked after, they will easily do big miles.

Keep an eye on the suspension as they can knock over bumps due to worn shock / ARB links.

Lovely interior with that dark wood trim and ivory seats.

Timeless classic.

I had one of these briefly (I bought it on behalf of my brother who then had it in Antibes for a couple of years) and absolutely loved it, what a great car. Mind you I once saw 1mpg on the instant readout, so you would need a very light foot to get 'high teens'.....

When my brother left Europe I flew to the south of France to collect the car and drive it back to the UK to sell it. One of the best road trips ever, including being pulled over by the (armed) Italian Police and let off because he couldn't be bothered with the hassle of booking a Brit...it wasn't the most direct route back home, but it was awesome.
