Has been 35% for years, years and years, going back to the Ford days, so your point is, umm, pointless.

And It's not "friend" and family, I'm afraid.

I'll be your friend! Can you imagine it?

Not it hasn’t. During the last decade prior to this offer the highest discount has been 20%.

Having suffered some issues with JLR products the last few years, albeit; relatively small issues... I will say, I had an almost identical amount of issues with other premium brands... but Land Rover have actually fixed every single thing without quibble. As well, Land Rover UK have been interested and eager to help when communications with dealers went bad. Not at all my experience with other brands. Mercedes UK in particular, could not have been less help.

So, a mark down for their reliability - but a mark
up for never shying away from sorting problems.

Guy in the office downstairs bought a new XE diesel in June. Its been back 3 times so far for warranty work electrical gremlins and some engine issue that they never really said much more about.

They gave him an E-pace loan car which broke down in our office car park. Then an F-pace which shutdown and refused to start on the way back to collect his car.

A shame as they cars look pretty decent.

We looked at an XE last time we changed my wife’s co car

We found it rather disappointing up close..lovely from a distance but once you delved into it it failed to deliver

It has a cheap looking and feeling interior .. very poor rear room and entry and a small opening boot

We ended up with a 3 series

One of her colleagues got one though and had no end of trouble with it including it being off the road for a couple of months awaiting a front bumper after a minor ding

My neighbour bought a lovely looking disco sport .. but he has it on timeshare with the dealer. Every couple of months it is back in for something whereas my similar X3 has been faultless apart from a couple of recalls sorted whilst it’s being serviced

I love the look of some of them .. but I don’t think I could bring myself to buy one

It’s just recently jumped from 20 % to 35 % off as pointed out by another poster.

The scheme is actually called

JAGUAR LAND ROVER PRIVILEGE SCHEME - PRICE EXAMPLES EFFECTIVE FROM 1ST JULY TO 30TH SEPTEMBER 2018
FOR RELATIVES OF JLR EMPLOYEES & JLR PENSIONERS

My apology for the friends and family quote .

Pedant.

I was at uni in the 80s with a pair of twins who were sponsored by Ford.

I forget what the discount they could get was, but it was definitely in the region of 1/3 - or even more. One car every six months. Since there were two of them, that was a new car every three months, always the "latest-greatest" in carefully thought-out spec... They had a dealer waiting to take them off their hands for strong money... They were making money hand-over-fist off the back of it.

This thread has me in bits.... Find a leak on launch, pull the cars back and plug the leak... And that’s an example of them being crap... LOL

Some of the recalls around the industry recently (accelerator pedals, airbags etc)....But someone’s mate saw a RangeRover on a low loader so they are worse etc etc....
Exactly.
Yep. IME, post-Tata takeover, JLR have been pretty pro-active in their recalls, where other manufacturers have attempted to dodge issues. Granted, they still had some daft things wrong with vehicles - the drive belts chewing through air-intake pipes on late model Defenders (known for months) being a notable - but find a mainstream manufacturer that doesn't.

Go back to making Spitfires to defend our shores.
Agree. The UK does the really make anything decent so may as well shut down the factory and move it abroad. No one will really give a toss.

At least we have taken back control and being frank, that's all the matters.

As has been said, there will be a few reasons for this, but I think it's simply the cars they build first and foremost.

The XE is due a facelift, only comes as a saloon and has a range of average-at-best engines, the XF is also not too far away from facelift time and is up against newer rivals. The F-Type is now old and was never really all that good to begin with.

But it's the XE that seems to have been a real let down for me - even bloody Alfa Romeo have made a better attempt with the Giulia than Jag have managed. Where's the Quadrifoglio equivalant? Don't tell me it's the stupid Project 8 thing! Where's the estate? Don't tell me it's the E-Pace! It's a shame, but once the new 3 Series is released, I can see even fewer XEs being sold. Is it selling better than the X-Type did?

XE looks impressive on wikipedia especially the diesel that does 99g/km = £0 road tax?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar_XE
Bonded and riveted aluminium construction is that borrowed from Lotus too?

XE is a really good car IMHO.

With the light, powerful 4 cylinder petrol engines, it feels extremely lively and nimble. I think it looks pretty good too. There just desperately needed to be (at least) and estate option, if not also a 2 door coupe version too, in order for JLR to get the benefit of volume. Also, aside from the crazy (too expensive to sell a lot of) Project 8, there is no 'fk off' big-engined BMW-M equivalent model.

Like what?

Every manufacturer I have worked for does a staff purchase and lease scheme.

In fact JLR isn't the most generous I have experienced.

The interior is really not up to scratch though, especially against the audi a4

Having had both, I strongly disagree.

The only downside of the XE was the limited rear leg room for my 3 6ft+ teenagers.

Maybe there's an opening in the market for DFS to begin selling cars
