Looks like a great fun, though I'd have thought the 1.4 Boosterjet engine from the new Swift Sport would be a more suitable match.
I'll have mine in Jungle Green, with a lift kit and chunkier tyres please
Why would you think a turbo charged smaller engine is better than a N/A engine in a true off-roader? I'll have mine in Jungle Green, with a lift kit and chunkier tyres please

Isn't the new G-wagen more on-road than off-road?

Should have put a turbo engine in it, if the 1980s drivetrain can handle that much power.
Yeah, they should've put 22's on it and quilted leather, maybe blacked it out and charged a laughable price for it. Wait, isn't there already company that has a car from the 80's that does that? Oh yeah, Mercedes This is an off roader, not a soft roader, N/A is by far the better choice for off road use. You do need torque when offroading, whether than comes from gearing or grunt.
This biggest problem with turbo's off-road is that lack of very fine throttle control required when clambering over obstacles.
Diesel's get away with it because even off boost, they still have plenty of low down grunt. not so much with petrols.

Fair point - I should have said "don't need engine torque if you've got the right gearing"...
As my old SJ413 Samurai proved to quite a few people in clay pits.
Bloody loved that thing. 8 mile twisty B Road commute, treating the throttle as a binary switch. Steering you sent a telegram to half a mile before the corner so it had time to decide whether to respond or not...
Roller painted NATO green, with immense orange PH smiley across the bonnet.

It looks like video reviews are starting to come in now. the usual big names in youtube car reviewing channels (i dont mean vloggers)
I see Carwow got it up to 160km/h [100mph], just a shame they didn’t try a 0-60 to see how much quicker than the old ones 14s it is (seems to be a range of guesses from journalists between 10.5 and 14s). Also seems a bit odd to do this full press launch with no prices given from Suzuki.SL22 said:
