How much room do we reckon is in the engine bay? LS Swap or at least swap in the 2ZR-GE from the Toyota Yaris GRMN / Lotus Elise?

Or is there an aftermarket for this 1.5L motor already where you can buy a supercharger conversion?

Looks like a great fun, though I'd have thought the 1.4 Boosterjet engine from the new Swift Sport would be a more suitable match.

I'll have mine in Jungle Green, with a lift kit and chunkier tyres please biggrin
Why would you think a turbo charged smaller engine is better than a N/A engine in a true off-roader?

Turbo's are unpleasant offroad.
The 1.5L is a N/A engine though...

I was responding to the claim that a turbo would be better

Should have put a turbo engine in it, if the 1980s drivetrain can handle that much power.

Looks good though, it's refreshing to see a newly launched vehicle that isn't a chubster.

Because they actually want a soft-roader that looks like an off-roader.

Isn't the new G-wagen more on-road than off-road?

Yeah, they should've put 22's on it and quilted leather, maybe blacked it out and charged a laughable price for it. Wait, isn't there already company that has a car from the 80's that does that? Oh yeah, Mercedes smile This is an off roader, not a soft roader, N/A is by far the better choice for off road use.

More low end torque. You don't want to be using 5000rpm offroad (or maybe you do, but I hope you understand what I mean)
Don't need torque when you've got the right gearing...

As soon as the4 door version is out, the order willbe placed.
Finally a new car where the designers were not let losse with fantasmagorical, undescipherable shapes and idiotic lines. Excellent stuff!

You do need torque when offroading, whether than comes from gearing or grunt.

This biggest problem with turbo's off-road is that lack of very fine throttle control required when clambering over obstacles.

Diesel's get away with it because even off boost, they still have plenty of low down grunt. not so much with petrols.

Observe.

Fair point - I should have said "don't need engine torque if you've got the right gearing"...

As my old SJ413 Samurai proved to quite a few people in clay pits.

Bloody loved that thing. 8 mile twisty B Road commute, treating the throttle as a binary switch. Steering you sent a telegram to half a mile before the corner so it had time to decide whether to respond or not...

Roller painted NATO green, with immense orange PH smiley across the bonnet.

I see Carwow got it up to 160km/h [100mph], just a shame they didn’t try a 0-60 to see how much quicker than the old ones 14s it is (seems to be a range of guesses from journalists between 10.5 and 14s). Also seems a bit odd to do this full press launch with no prices given from Suzuki.

You’d “take” a £70,000 car over a £16,000 car. Thanks for that insight and contribution. Nice one.
I would take a GT3 RS over a GLC 63.
