Can we please stop the g-wagon comparisons, it looks like a Jimny, not a g-wagon. The retro craze has given Suzuki the confidence to make it look like previous Jimny’s, some of which pre-date the g-wagon’s existence.
Wagen.

Sorry hehe

You are correct though, it would be more accurate to say the G-Wagen looked like a big Jimny!

True, but unless one is an off-road enthusiast or lives in the wilds where there are no tracks, the Panda (or Duster) would me a more useful car.
I can see it being a handy little farmers ute.

Like the Defender it has a small but dedicated target audience which really won't accept anything less.

Why do I feel like if I get one I’d have the same costs as the car on accessories.

Big lights, stickers, pop up tent, all things making more wind resistance. I’d use non of it but feel the need I have it no idea why.

As a swift sport owner 2016 model, I’m already in the Suzuki camp, and my brother has got the new model of the back of mine.

What’s going to be interesting is if all the people saying they buy one do ?

I will be as it suits my needs and looks good, I just hope it does not have a felt roof and is plastic or vinyl, anything that's easy to clean.

I grew up in a place in the 80s where there were plenty of little Suzuki 4x4s around, but when I see this latest Jimny I immediately think mini G-wagon.

Add me to the "don't need one but want one" group. Well done Suzuki.

Isn't that the market Suzuki make the Swift for? Buying a Jimny with no intention of off-roading (or at least pretending that you're the sort of person who goes offroad) would be ridiculous.
The Ignis is available with 4WD too - that's probably the closest match to the Panda 4x4. The Celerio and Baleno are the only Suzuki's that aren't available with 4WD.

I was in a Suzuki dealer in Saturday buying a 2014 swift sport (great car!) and the dealer reckons people won't lose much on the Jimny when it comes to resale, he'd just sold a 2014 Jimny for 10k.

New jimny is a lovely looking thing but I can't really justify a 4th car in London...
In a Suzuki dealer last week and asked about Jimny. They already have lots of deposits/orders. Really tempted to ditch my 15 y.o. landcruiser for one of these

Snowden!? I assume you meant Snowdon. That said, I do see quite a few Jimny’s in Snowdonia, and I quite fancy one of these, however irrational that is.

If I lived in Cornwall I'd have one.

Hose down interior, skills to pass the naff roads in the winter and space for body boards inside, bigger boards up top. You watch, these will be cooler than yet another VW T5.

One of these or one of those Citroen Berlingo things with the sliding door. Another useful car.

SnowdOn...

But anyway.

I like it and for my SnowdOnia based business, it looks ideal. Until I can finance the UN spec land cruiser.

The Jimmy predates the G Wagen by nine years. They look about the same now as they did back then - which is not very, in the scheme of things.

Love this car, really hope it does well.

Well specced new Ignis' seem to be pretty common on the road (I love them too, they look like nothing else) so hopefully Suzuki really finding an individual style is paying off for them.

They're pretty horrible as a car and underpowered too - aircon off for the steeper hills!

But as an off-road vehicle they're simple and they work. Certainly worked well as an alternative to taking the Landcruiser off along the coast for fishing.

Think audi should use this 4wd system in their shart haldex application, extra levers are always fun. 👍
