Thats really versatile! You can remove the whole side for better access!

Joking aside (which historically has been hard) - I like it

There will be thousands sold in the Caribbean, and as Mediterranean rentals. With good reason.

Looks great. Surprised about the engine range (or lack of). 1.5l non-turbo? Did Suzuki not get the memo?

True, but unless one is an off-road enthusiast or lives in the wilds where there are no tracks, the Panda (or Duster) would me a more useful car.
Isn't that the market Suzuki make the Swift for? Buying a Jimny with no intention of off-roading (or at least pretending that you're the sort of person who goes offroad) would be ridiculous.
Yes. If these sell well to sub/urban people, owner surveys and focus groups will discover that people like the looks, but would like more refinement.

The next version will be a.... Soft-roader wink

It doesn't actually look that different to a jeep Renegade. The 5 door Renegade would make more sense for most people.

We saw two car transporters full of these on our euro trip last week. We genuinely got more excited about them than the exotica at the Nurburgring hehe

Still inexpensive, but originally touted as £12-14,000.
£16,000 makes it a little too high for me to buy (new) as a fun car - guess I'll have to wait a year or two.
Really like the concept, don't have the need - just the want.

Suzuki seem to have got the nail hit squarely on the head. No diesel. No complicated turbo. A simple petrol engine that gives adequate economy. Fits the ethos of the product 100%.

I've no need for one of these. If I had the disposable income, it would be on the drive in a very bright hue.

When I was a boy my Dad bought the original version for a bit of fun in Gloucestershire. It went up slopes and through ruts you wouldn't believe. I think that had a sub 1 litre engine!

My mum was pissed off in heavy snow on 1982 as he still managed to get to work...the only one in the company who did as it was light enough not to get bogged down in deep drifts

And the fact it weighs so little means there really isn't much need for FI and the associated extra weight and cooling required. Pretty sure the Panda 4x4s the maintenance and observation crews use to drive up and down Mount Etna are basic NA petrol too.

The car of choice here in the alps has for some time been a Panda 4x4. Lots of folks that I know with really expensive machines have one for a local run-around, especially in the winter. It almost doesn't matter if it slides into a snow-bank.

Recently there seems to have been quite a bit of momentum for the Suzuki Agnis. However I really fancy one of these. Perfect size, wipe down plastics (I love that the back of the rear seats is hard plastic), proper AWD. Rack on the top for the skis. Perfect.

Unfortunately renting another space in my underground parking costs more a month than Suzuki Switzerland want for the lease! Time to find cheaper car parking.

Apart from as a shopping car for my wife I have absolutely no need for one of these, but I am absolutely going to buy one as soon as they are available over here. What a fabulous little runabout. Love it !

yes

In 2006 the wife and I hired a Jimny for a few days while on honeymoon in Paphos, Cyprus. It felt great to get out of the blazing sun and explore the island. We visited some fantastic places off the tourist trail, even going to the top of Mt Olympus (6500ft).

It was a nice surprise to see it again when we last visited in 2017!

If you're ever in the Paphos area and see a metallic blue hardtop Jimny, reg ZNL 193, raise a smile hehe

love it, just hope it has a bit of towing capacity would make a great little work runabout, seats look to fold properly flat, decent load bay and if it can tow i'm set.

would love a slightly more beefy version pickup with a Harvey frost crane on the back for light recovery.

Funny you should say that...

I went up Vesuvius a few weeks ago. The path is steep, but well maintained and there were 2 cars at the top:

- Suzuki Jimny, used to stock the trinket shops at the summit
- Fiat Panda 4x4 (late eighties / early nineties version), used to transport those less able to walk

We saw the Panda in action, and it made the climb look easy but looked a little out of place. The Jimny seemed to fit in perfectly. I guess both are narrow / light enough to fit and cause minimum path erosion.

In fairness, Pistonheads is probably the least Jimny demographic Suzuki could possibly find. That there are so many positive comments on here says a lot about the car and its manufacturer. Those that don't "get" the Jimny have, quite rightly, voiced that opinion. While I'm not suggesting we all go off and read "Small4x4Jeepheads", I believe the specialist press for such things will be very excited by this.

I spent 3 years selling Suzukis. While we didn't sell many new Jimnies (is that the plural? Jimnii?), the market for delivery mileage pre-reg and demo ones was buoyant so I ended up using a few as company cars. I agree that it's no Swift Sport, but they handle well for what they are and are OK on road as long as you don't expect Swift Sport levels of performance, grip and handling. If that's what you want, buy a Swift Sport.

For an idea of Jimny popularity, take a look at their residuals.
