Me too. On both counts.

Worryingly, Mrs PB likes the look of it as well. Seeing as we already have a front-wheel-drive Disco Sport, it could be a bit odd replacing the MINI as our second car with this. Especially as we live in the 'burbs!

In fairness, Pistonheads is probably the least Jimny demographic Suzuki could possibly find. .
I disagree. It's a very PH car. Any car that has charm, a cult following, character by the bucket load, looks amazing always does.

yip I'm a big fan of this, unfortunately unless there is a LWB which is highly unlikely (although there are some good photoshop mock ups going about) I sadly can't find an excuse to buy one as a 3rd car!! The JDM accessories look cool:

There is no real comparison, one is an off-roader which is just about useable on the road. The other is a car which is just about useable off road.

Also the reason the Jimny specification doesn't mention 'front/rear underbody protection' Is because it doesn't really need any thanks to solid axles and a ladder chassis.... (maybe a transfer box guard if you're planning on bouncing it over rocks) This is pretty obvious stuff if you've ever looked underneath one....
I would like to see these two compared off road.

As previously mentioned, the panda 4x4 is hopeless in any real off-road scenario.

As of 12:55, Jimny's first drive article has 85 replies, whereas Aventador SVJ's first drive article only gets 13 replies...

Oh, can we please stop saying this new Jimny looks like a G-Wagen?! The new Jimny looks like the old Jimny (especially MK1 and MK2). And the first Jimny was introduced almost a decade earlier than the first G-Wagen.

so in essence

Great off-road, which almost all owners will never do

Terrible on-road, where owners will spend all of their time

I don’t need a 4x4. I don’t even like 4x4s. Or SUVs.

I have never bought a new car. I have never wanted to buy a new car.

Why oh why do I want this so much?! I feel shallow and materialistic. But I just want one.

I might have to make an exception ...
This tells us all we need to know about it. It turns otherwise sensible people into lunatics. Well done Suzuki! biggrin

I want mine in yellow with Tonka stickers please.
Indeed! The positive feedback on the thread is brilliant and I hope it translates into plenty of sales.

£16,000? It's an increase on what they actually sell for now?!

As a long time fan of true off-roaders (almost 50 years now!), I’m so pleased to see Suzuki continue to stay true to this car’s heritage. Likewise the G- Wagen and Wrangler. Having despaired at the steady loss of this type of rugged vehicle, with bluff lines that are necessarily fit for purpose, I’m delighted to see the sheer number of complimentary remarks being made about the Jimny. It is a niche vehicle, particularly in the UK, but its dedicated following should be noted by certain other manufacturers. Land Rover, I fear, will be missing such an opportunity if the forthcoming Defender veers well away from the traditional off-roader format.

It looks just as good in the flesh - nosed around it parked outside the hotel this morning.

I understand that it's utilitarian - but I need heated leather as an option and I'm deffo in. Take my cash money.

And not as good at offroad-lite as a Duster?

Like many of you, I have no need for this, but I absolutely want one. It just looks... fun. I can't think of many recent releases that have provoked this kind of sincere enthusiasm on here. Well done, Suzuki.

Was thinking of one for the missus - but she has no need for the 4x4 and her driving is A roads/ motorway so not a sensible choice.

I know she'd want one - but suspect she'd grow to dislike it.

I think it looks brilliant!
Normally I can't stand SUVs and I have no need to go off road. I could even see myself buying one, though I probably won't frown

Sort of reminds me of the original boxey Panda (Guigaro designed flat screen one) 4x4 they were cool in a strange way too.

It’s one of the official accessories in Japan. I’m sure it’ll be case here too.

Maybe if you jack up the suspension, cut the bodywork away and fit some big off-road tyres then I can imagine the Panda doing quite well too.
