fk me that interior is absolutely vile.
Agreed. I also think it will also look incredibly dated very quickly.
Looks like a slab had been dropped on the dash , not nice at all.

Can't wait to see them in white with black wheels darting through traffic at stupid speeds in Bradford. Is the Cat S/N write off status an option too?

nice @ £35k but I'd rather save up the extra 5-6k and get an rs3 then remap it to 550bhp smile
Remap to 550bhp? No.

Remap to 550bhp? No.
Hes not getting a new RS3 for just £5K more either....

carwow have one for £41,800 - so £6,292 more expensive to be precise and I did say £5-6k

there's no options I'd want, the standard paint is fine, has xenons as standard, standard alloys are fine, standard heated seats, standard sat nav, standard iphone integration, standard dual zone a/c. things like the RS design pack are gimmicky imo and the only things i'd be tempted by are the sport exhaust and sportier seats, both are too bad value for money.

I don't know what deals can be had on the a35 yet, just doing some man maths and the rs3 is much more car for not that much more money in the above example.

and yes it's not actually 550bhp but 500 with a remap and airfilter with an intercooler for £2k (£500 for a remap that takes it to 480bhp if you don't want to spend the extra for 20 more hp)

But your example isnt at all realistic - the A35 will have an easy 10-12% discount when it arrives, so still £10K+ more for an RS3....

Whilst you might be happy to "save up" the difference (and if you save and extra £500 a month thats still going to take you 2+ years), the reality is most people have a budget for a car and finding an extra £10,000 isnt palatable.

And then on top of all that you're proposing invalidating your warranty on your brand new car by remapping it? eek

You're really not being realistic or comparing apples with apples.

You might as well compare this to a Polo GTI as an RS3. All are available as five door hatch backs but that's where the similarity ends.

+1

Different cars at vastly different price points.

I like it and I'd happily drive it, engine size and number of cylinders wouldn,t bother me at all. For all I care it could be goat under the bonnet and as long as it got me from A to B, and put a smile on my face when I wanted. Interior is nice apart from the display screens, that is the only thing I dislike.

Seems like with Porsche, UK customers are well liked by MB. German RRP is from 48k EUR, so 35k GBP is pretty good compared to the price in its country of origin.

They do have electric mirrors as standard. I think its electric folding mirrors that are an option. Likewise not everyone wants or needs keyless entry so why pay for it in the standard spec?

We have keyless on our A45 and rarely use it. It came with one of the packs we opted for but we wouldnt have spec'd it or paid for it on its own..

Sorry, I meant the folding mirrors - I see that as a basic feature of any new car, especially one costing £35k+.. Keyless entry, fair point if you don't use it - but again I see this as a basic feature on a car costing 35k+.

Yes and on some cars they would be. If you can get 300+ BHP and all of those features for £35K (probably £32K after discount) then great.

Not sure if a Megane RS has those features as standard - i suspect it has - and it would be a worthy alternative.

You pays your money.....

Jaguar aren't much better - my step dad's Jag XE Sport has electric mirrors but they don't fold when you lock it (it's an option) but standard on my Leon.

What does a standard £35K A35 look like? - All the Mercedes, internet & motor show pictures seem to have both extra large screens and the body kit on, so are more like £45K cars.

true but there's also like for like options, the rs3 has parking sensors, nav and heated seats and to get those and the rear wing (as the car was designed to have imo) on the amg it's £4,000
