Will use my C1 which is sat doing nothing, FWD and 155 section tyres means it is pretty good in snow, which doesnt happen too often but an auto RWD BMW is, as we know, crap in the snow.

Put winters or cross climates on it and it will be fine. I don’t get the logic in wanting to drive around in a crap car just because the weather is bad unless your summer ride is something really special and you want to keep the salt off it. Even then I’d rather just have something decent for all seasons, heated seats etc are lovely in the winter.

Soon to be lowered mk 2.5 mx5, not sure I've got the hang of this!
I like your style. Lowered Mk3 MX-5 worked well enough for me. LSD is surely the obvious winter accessory?
I've actually owned it for 3 years now, drove it for 2 years as standard and then sorned it when I got my Renault. Now looking to sell the Renault and go back to something more simple and fun. 275 bhp is great fun sometimes but it's so bloody annoying at times having it and not getting to use it as much as I want to. At least with 110 ponies you get to use all of them constantly.

Although I have just been offered a fairly modified clio 182, decisions decisions. Or do I really lose the plot and supercharge the rusty mx5 nuts

M5 will stay indoors, the VW Up will stay on daily duty, but I kinda think the M5 would be a better and more fun winter car, e39's rust like a 70's Opel however so winter sledding that one is out of the question. However I've been thinking about selling the Up and buy something 4wd like a cherokee or similar for the actual brutal winters we usually have in Scandinavia..

Old RWD Volvos are usually the weapon of choice here biggrin

I shall be using this throughout the winter.
Just as I did my F-Type R, my Exige V6, and the one before that, and the Boxster Spyder before that...etc etc.

This was my winter car - I bought it a week before the Beast from the East arrived.

No problems at all - but then it did come fitted with Bridgestone Blizzak winter tyres! laugh

Purchased when I was driving around in RWD luxo barges. Daily driver is now a Discovery 4 so really surplus to requirements. The tyres are studdable and I have a bag of studs. So if we are suddenly plunged into a Scandinavian winter I am quids in.

One of these, has sat on the drive doing nothing all glorious summer as I have used the bike every day. It was fantastic in the last rounds of snow we had.

Daily driven in all weathers.

The LSD was quite effective last time it snowed tbh, well felt it to me at least.
