RE: Ford GT: Showpiece of the Week
Discussion
The place selling this one (GT101) have an open day every May. As well as several Ford GT's there are some serious Mustangs there. Their workshop is one of the cleanest I have ever seen and the guys have a great reputation.
Having never driven a LHD I'm not sure I could get on with one of these - something with a footprint similar to a transit van might not be the best way to start LHD experience...
A tuned V8 Mustang however can be had in RHD and keep a GT honest well into 3 figures.

I follow a detailer on Facebook (was going to get my MX-5 done and a protective coating applied when I bought it, but Mazda used so little paint, it couldn't be done properly). He's now based at GT101 and looks after all their cars, most of their customer cars and some other fairly exotic machinery.Having never driven a LHD I'm not sure I could get on with one of these - something with a footprint similar to a transit van might not be the best way to start LHD experience...

Was this called for? I think the author was writing more about the ownership history than a critique of the car itself.
Apart from the bits that weren't about ownership history. It's just downright lazy journalism. PH don't post that many articles. Why not make the articles that are posted high quality, and well researched. Conjecture is rife in PH content.WJNB said:
That silver plastic central console reminds me of the body coloured motorbike-like console in the Juke - it's 'orrible.
Seem to remember these cars never had a decent sporty exhaust, or proper RH drive, BUT the shape Oh the shape so I forgive it everything.
The centre tunnel cover and audio surround are actually magnesium alloy castings.Seem to remember these cars never had a decent sporty exhaust, or proper RH drive, BUT the shape Oh the shape so I forgive it everything.

It was indeed - AIUI Mr. C was told a few times what the cause of the issues were - but didn't resolve them. I believe a PH guy bought the car and had quite a few years of trouble-free driving, including tours of Europe - there was a thread about it with some fabulous photos with his travel companion - driving a F40, if memory serves correctly.
This over a Ferrari anyday for me.
It was a different car..... I had many years of trouble free motoring in mine. Clarkson is a plank - he tried to jump start it from the cigarette lighter along with a few aftermarket alarm/tracker issues. This over a Ferrari anyday for me.
Good fun driving thru France with an F40.

I do recall someone on PH owning the car, though and certainly had trouble-free ownership. I'd buy the ex-JC without a doubt or worry, if I had the funds.

Fortunate enough to have had a passenger lap of this very car at VMAX (thanks again Phil). It is very much an event. A very special car and surely one that will only appreciate over time.
My pleasure!I won't go into all the guff about MPG and alarms etc, I've done 11 years of that.
But does the ownership make a difference to the car? Well in cold £££ that's a debate. But, if you're trying to get entry into some event it does in spades. How much that's worth I can't say, but it allowed me to do a whole load of things that I probably couldn't have done anyway. So 'worth' is a strange measure really if just in pounds.
Oh and new Ford GT £450k? The UK list was £519,995 without any of the taking-the-piss-like-ferrari-and-then-some options.
