I attended one of the experience days at Millbrook and spent a bit of time in the hatch version. I thought it was a really nice package. Not the last word in feel, but what is in 2018? Nice balance, strong engine, pleasant gearbox and great brakes. Perceived quality no worse than a Golf or 1-series in my opinion, and better than a Focus or Astra. The pro driver made it dance around the outer handling circuit beautifully as well.

Not sure I'd choose the fastback over the hatch, personally, but the i30N is pretty high on my list for my next car. I am keen to see how reliability and residual values pan out over the next couple of years. I'm hoping got the former to be great, and the latter to be appalling, personally. smile

Low end Hyundais (and Kias) have been doing pretty well in terms of early-life residuals recently, probably because they're still under warranty when they exit their initial leases. Whether that will carry over to £25k+ models, remains to be seen but I doubt they'll be terrible; they're building a pretty good reputation for build quality and reliability which certainly wont hurt them compared to other "non-premium" brands.

Looks a lot like the current Mercedes CLA / C Class styling. Not to say that is a bad thing. Looks very good to me.

I like it.
