There’s speculation in the US media that Lego have ‘let the cat out of the bag’ with the image I posted above.
The test models have appeared virtually undisguised apart from a wrap for the last month or two, it's not exactly a secret how the car will look

As seen in its infotainment screen, according to Jalopnik.

I think it looks rather good.

Those dash pics seem to suggest a bonnet bulge which obviously isn't present on the clad version on the shots and would be a welcome styling cue.

If the Lego model is correct and it has round headlights as well then it will feel very Defender like. I'm if the opinion that those 2 features will be the big reveal for the front end.....

Edit: you can also make out the alpine windows at the back too

Can you explain if there is a point to the pictures? What they seem to suggest is that your Smart Car would have been the more sensible vehicle for pottering down some tracks.
Just sharing. Why are you throwing your toys out of the pram over nothing rolleyes

When my dad put his deposit down, he was told that it would be starting at £40k and would be available in 'Utility' and 'Luxury' spec. (Although the exact names for the two spec options hasn't been revealed yet).

You pick the body style (2 Door, 4 Door etc), then you pick if you want it to be Utility or Luxury.

Utility will be bare metal floors with rubber mats, vinyl or cloth seats, all that kind of thing. Luxury will be fully loaded with carpet, leather, alcantara, and so on.

Just asking a question. Never had you down as the emotionally unstable type. The tracks shown look like your Smart would have been the better choice. Throughout this thread you’ve insisted on the essential need for extreme off-roading capability but then seem to show pictures of lanes that would make an African in his 2wd shed laugh.

High dash and shifter is interesting.... three wide seating maybe?

to be fair, yes a smart car would probably be capable of tackling those little tracks shown, but it certainly wouldn't do it much good.

Certainly looks like it. The more I see, the more I like. Who cares if it’s got the wrong axles and will break down.

Yep. To recap:

“Occasional” bench front seat - check
Raised central style bonnet - check
Utility/luxury choice - check
Alpine windows - check
Possible round headlamps - check

Almost sounds as though someone at JLR knows what they are doing better than the internet warriors wink.

4 door Ute for me, Keswick green. Couldn’t give a stuff what’s going on underneath as won’t 99% of the buying public.

Something like this would have my money in a flash

The other thing is it looks as if they're hiding is a lower window line than the prototypes have given away, the mirror housing is much lower than the door trim camo. Based on that and the Lego model I wonder if the rendering on the dash display is a red herring too, I know it's only Lego but the beefy bolt on arches look pretty deliberate!

Hopefully they've created a bit more space but treated the old 'elbow out of the window' driving position as an option to be preserved!

Have to say I'm looking forward to seeing it unwrapped. As a minimum it looks like a Defenderized Disco 3 which is fine and it will be a winner, but if it's a much chunkier design externally with similar practicality to a D3/4 then I'll love it.

I really hope this thing isn't FFRR / Disco sized. It needs to be a bit more wieldy to appeal to me. Another bus isn't what's needed.
