I went to School with Dean Lanzante (same year) and he is a nice bloke, his place is just down the road from me and I love seeing how well his business is doing.

Even though it'd probably be the last thing I ever did, a go in one of these would probably be the best driving experience of my life. As I'd inevitably head backwards towards some tree or stone wall, I'd at least depart this world with a smile on my face! laugh

It is reassuring that things like this are still made - somewhat akin to the Bentley Boys fitting meteor engines.

Mental in the best possible way.

Didn't he or someone close to him stated that they were totally undriveable?

There is brief, one line mention of the TAG 911 in John Barnard's biography. I'd imagine the car was retained by Mansour Ojjeh as he had funded the TAG engine program. Porsche reported at the time that the car drove fine.
I thought there were two TAG cars for the road? One Ojjeh which was all wings and things and one for Ron which was bog-standard looking car like Lanzante has put together.

The McLaren heritage collection car is white with RUF wheels and bodykit, just like the one in the photos. Is this the same car, or have Lanzante replicated it?

I can't help but think it is a tragic waste of an epic race engine...
As opposed to them sitting in storage for another 30 years?

Why would they not be used? I see plenty of Singers and Rufs being used.

If I could, I'd put the engine in a 924 or early boxster. Then find a PCGB track day...

Just can't wait for them to finish the building as it seems to be going on for ages.

With period turbos and traction control, probably yes.
With modern equipment? Probably not so bad.

I can't find any comments about the original car/cars, let alone how it drives. It seems it was considered a myth until the car pictured turned up in the Mclaren technology centre.

I would be amazed if it was anything other than unbearable and uncontrollable.

Absolutely but as another poster said running modern turbos and engine management with tc like m880 should be far more tractable and fun.
