Imagine paying 5500 for one of these, by all means a nice car, probably nice to drive but 5500 grand gets you a manual E39 540i sport with low miles and the value will only go up.
This is indeed the issue. Comparative economy of what you're getting. There aren't enough reasons to set it apart from other similarly priced Luxobarges, including something equally as (potentially) expensive to run like a Phaeton.

A Phaeton looks like a Passat. A C6 looks like - nothing else

What a weird way to think. I was comparing one particular option of Luxury Saloon to another.A Phaeton looks like a Passat. A C6 looks like - nothing else
Unless of course you think a Multipla is a viable alternative, based on the fact that it "looks like nothing else"?
A few years ago one of these picked me up at Heathrow at 5.30 am to bring me back to the Cotswolds.
I raised an eyebrow but got talking to drives and he said had it a while, no problems, loved running a quirky car and was generally very happy.
At 7am we broke down just west of Burford

Used to work in a Jeep dealership in 2006 and we shared premises with a Citroen franchise. They had a fully loaded petrol V6 in the showroom at about 38 grand from memory. About the same as the Hemi powered 300C estate we had in ours.
Both were there when I went in for the interview and oddly still there 15 months later when I left!
The Citroen looked like it had come from the planet Zarg and was magnificent in every way. I wonder if it ever sold? The gas guzzler tax came in during that period so it would probably be a frightening ownership prospect now.

Are there any owners on here who can comment from experience on the reliability of these? I expect the Citroën badge could, perhaps unfairly, put some folks off taking a punt on one.
The 7 previous owners on a 78,000 mile car has me wary, i have to say. Unless its people being savvy trying not to keep it for too long to avoid too much depreciation!Edited by 1974foggy on Wednesday 24th October 08:50
