It’s completely up to you how you spend your money so if you want to buy a Cullinan then you are welcome to make that choice.

I mean you’d definitely need your head looking at though because it really is an awful looking vehicle. Yes luxurious interior but fking hell its ugly.

I saw one at the weekend, looked quiet a handsome thing in the flesh, I’m not sure if it’s just well proportioned, but it looked like a full-sized RR, I didnt really notice it until I spotted the grill.

How does one typically finance Rolls?
When we financed Phantoms is was just like any other car, 10% deposit, 3-5 years and a final non-guaranteed balloon payment. Same terms as a Mondeo, same paperwork too, just bigger numbers.

I guess their will be a PCP option for consumers now.

I don't really understand the hate for this - to me it just looks like another bland SUV, and I'm a fan of the entire Rolls Royce lineup. The Urus is far more vile, less so for its styling than the fact that given the Bentley Bentayga (and Audi Q8 and upcoming Bugatti SUV) , VAG really didn't need another SUV but it did one anyway, and could have really shot for the moon like with the LM002, but instead styled a sportier version of the Audi Q SUVs, with a better badge on it.

In fact, I'd say that of the Urus, Bentayga and this, the Rolls is the least objectionable, and the most in line with its saloon & coupe siblings.

P.s. The luxo innovation on this car that most speaks to me: Foam insulated tyres. I want these on my hybrid too so I can scare the crap out of pedestrians even more in electric mode.

P.p.s. I witnessed a current gen Phantom navigate a tight roundabout a couple of days ago. The 4wd steering seems to make it move with ease and what a gracefully looking beast of a car.

I quite like its subtle looks, the fact it's super fast and handles well for something this weighty is quite
impressive. Should I ever become lord or win the euro millions I may get one. In Lime green. wink

FFS will you learn to write properly. This is PistonHeads, not the daily mail, and not Barbara Cartland; how many poeple will it take commenting on the piss poor writing style for you buffoon heads to sit up and take note?

This is not a repository for trust fund kids, at least it’s not read by them. Sort it out. Please.

I was in a brand new Range Rover Vogue SE the other day. I was underwhelmed. It was ok. So clearly there is room for something better if people are around to pay for it. Hence, this Rolls.

Having said that, if it was painted black it would be mistaken for a taxi cab. I don’t think that’s the idea Rolls had in mind.

This is no doubt technically excellent but once again it proves that designing elegant large SUVs is very hard. No one other than Range Rover seems to be able to offer something that is not horribly ugly.

This Rolls is a munter. But then so is the Bentley. I guess the target market just doesn’t care.

At a time when normal, cheaper cars are so competent, capable and "comfortable", the most expensive cars don't really do things that the normal cars don't. They just do it more expensively.

This is fine. There is just no need to dress it up as something more.

And that's the nub there "for it's weight". It won't handle well by any stretch of the imagination. It will handle like a bag of nails compared to a smaller, lighter car. It's weight will only be kept in check and disguised somewhat with some very expensive and clever electronics.

Plus it's too big and wide to have any fun in it. Try taking one of these down your local B road and I suspect that despite it's great power, almost any other car would leave you for dead. Like many an SUV it's just too wide to thread effectively and safely down a country lane with any sort of enthusiasm.

Which all adds up to what's it really good at? Posing whilst you park outside your local department store? Ideal!!!

Do you honestly think that people will buy these to drive down a B road, and sit worrying that they would be having more fun in a smaller, lighter, narrower car? Im pretty sure its not going to be purchased as a replacement Caterham, but that surely doesnt mean its limited to posing outside a local department store.

What you need is a van. But not a Transit as they are for poor people. You need a VW Transporter. The king of vans. The champion’s van. The van for winners. They do everything that an SUV can but better and handle like an F1 car. It’s not just a van. It’s a VW van.

All Hail Corbyn!!!

It adds up to being a magnificent place to eat away the miles in utter Comfort and refinement, whilst having room for the family? Like any big SUV, only more luxurious? Seems a pretty straightforward concept to grasp, for me at least.

Same principle of a Phantom. Or even a 7 series over a 5 series, for example.

Absurd to talk about it being too big to chuck it around like a sports car. It's not meant to be one. It'd be like saying "A Caterham is crap because the interior is st, it's noisy, and I can't fit my dog and kids in it". Once you try judging a car on what it's actually based on, you'll find more cars make sense.

Not every expensive car is meant to be a sports car.

The target market for this will no doubt be people who already have a fleet of other cars which, if driving fun is something on their list of priorities will already include a Ferrari / Lambo / McLaren etc.

What you, I or anyone else thinks about this car is to a certain extent irrelevant.
Rolls Royce will have done their market research and determined that they can sell enough of these, at an acceptable (to RR) profit.
If they've got the research wrong, the sales figures will show it and the model will either be dropped or hastily restyled.

(In many ways, this thread reminds me of the reaction to the first Porsche Cayenne)

Quite. The Bentaygo's gopping (although the Lambo Arse has outmunted it thoroughly). This is merely a bit bloaty and bland.
