I had one of these as my first car - exactly like this one with the Abarth body bits and wheels.

Was hit from behind and hit a Rover 800 Coupe in front of me. The Rover had a damaged bumper......the Fiat was written off.

I remember it being slow, and snapping clutch cables every 6-9 months. But it was my first car, so I still miss it.

I know dealers need to make a profit but surely thats a grand over priced even so!?. Or is it 'modern classic' tax being added onto it

I had a grey sporting Abath a few years back.

It came in the Lexus lights and they weee swapped out for standard ones. I fitted an enlarged throttle body and a scorpion exhaust.

It was a great fun car round town and on a B road. It was a bit tiresome on the motorway. I remember it fondly as having character if not for being the best car money could buy.

The way that's folded up in the frontal impact test is terrifying, especially when you consider that this might be bought as an 'ideal first car'!

I had one for a few days or so as a courtesy car, and hated every minute of driving it. I've enjoyed driving thrashing the nuts off every other Fiat I've had as a hire/courtesy/loan car..the Seicento was just awful.

Size 12 feet didn't help, as the pedals are so close together, although I'd guess anybody over size 7 or 8 would have problems.

I remember the best thing about it being a Sony stereo..

I had a Cinq for me first car - it was a fantastic little thing. Wind it up to speed, hang on and try not to crash. I used to drive it 300 miles up the motorway to University, and even though it was a bit buzzy it still did the job, you could sit at an indicated 95 leptons all day.

I'd still love another one, but a Cinq, not a Sei. And definitely not this one. It looks fked.

Nooooo!!
I've had the peril of yellow , be warned do not go near this thing ! after listening to the rear suspension bushes clanking around for a couple of weeks ( they all do that mate) it's wheezing engine and the headlight falling out I decided to get rid.
Oh dear, I've bought and sold hundreds of cars so I didn't think it would be difficult...this car seemed to bring out the absolute worst in people, I priced cheap and had 3 potential buyers lose their minds after test driving it, one guy who said he had a Porsche recently !! got all shouty and red faced, one guy gave me the money, put all his gear in it, got in and then got out and said he didn't want it, his eyes actually boggled, the next guy had had his car stolen and needed something cheap and cheerful, again tested it , signed the V5 and then started jumping up and down and said he'd changed his mind !!
Blimey O' Reilly, eventually a dealer mate sold it with a stern "trade only" declaration as it rattled off with ( yet again) in the dealers words a strange look from the buyer, he said that some sort of Stephen King thing was going on!

Lovely engine, cute and better looks then the Cinquecento but the drive was horrible especially for my large feet. Every time I pressed the clutch I was doing emergency stops. I drove it to a local bodyshop when I worked in the parts dept at my local Fiat dealer and it was obvious it wasn't fit for purpose as the engine shunt was incredibly bad. I swear the engine mounts weren't tightened.

A good one of these is fun to rag around town or down the lanes . An abused or neglected one will put you off for life .
I am not to sure why the engines of the same spec vary so much in performance . One will be smooth , the next harsh , the next won't rev , the next will pull like a train.
I worked for an ex main dealer and these were popular with the young and older ladies .
The pedals are at an awkward height causing you to hover over them rather than resting your heals on the floor .
You can easily cock rear wheels in the air on the sporting with the bigger tyres , the more basic models tend to undulate then hop if pushed hard into the bends .
As in many things one mans fun will be anothers annoyance .
Find a good one and if you are the sort that likes nippy little buzz boxes to fling around town you will love it .
Find a grotty one and you will never feel the love .
This one appears to be hugely overpriced even at a grand, at almost double the price it does seem to be a bit of a fantasy .
I have driven loads , I have had fun in a few , would I want one ? Not on your life !

The OH had one for about 5 years. The only car she couldn't kill. But..... rear beam rusted away...front susopension bushes, etc, etc.
P/ex it against a MINI and got £200 for it. Been playing cambelt roulette for about 2 years.
This one is the pre facelift one. silly price.

Had a cincquecento sporting. First brand new car back in 96... brilliant on the lanes... remember chasing someone in a mk2 16 valve golf and catching him in the corners...he could not get away! Great steering and supple ride. Wouldn’t pay this money for the Seicento however, it actually weighed 100kg more with no more power. Not a good shed really at that price.
I’d prefer my daughters little mk 1 Ford Ka. Half the price, quicker, equally nimble and fun but slightly more robust’

I'm one of those that had a Cinquecento Sporting, after splitting with first wife.

As others have said, you could drive it at 9/10ths or even 10/10ths around B roads and have loads of fun, and compared to an Impreza WR1 I had, the performance was available for more of the time (if that makes sense?).

NCAP scores reflect the reality of what might happen in an accident, as Jezza said "Your knees are the crumple zone"!

A little later I had, for a brief period, a Seicento that had been subject of a vanAaken Turbo conversion. Brakes and suspension had also been attended to but for some reason it just wasn't as....'nice' as the non-turbo chinky-chento.

As for this one? I'd pass, too many actual and potential issues to waste your wedge on.

I wouldn't touch that with a 50 foot bargepole on the end of an enormous crane remotely controlled from the other side of the world.

Harshly put. But not necessarily untrue.
