I'm intrigued by these... If I could see the right spec, for sale, slightly used (I don't think I could stand the waiting lists for a new one), I'd be tempted as a fun, cheap to run, day to day car for today's roads and driving conditions (at least in and around London)....

My ideal spec. is also black, with a pano roof - I think the 5 door version looks a little more grown up and adds a tiny bit of practically (not for passengers, but for luggage etc.)... complete lack of these on the dealer network at the moment though and no doubt, I will move on to something else when I change cars sometime in the next few years, but VW are clearly onto a winner here as it appeals to everyone, young, older and from all walks of life... forget comparing specs, this well researched marketability is probably where it is the most similar to what the Mk1 & Mk2 Golf GTI were in the their day....

What are these like on the motorway? Probably not what it's designed for but quite fancy one as a commuter.

Person with vested interest in car comments on thread about said car. Hardly the biggest surprise ever is it, so what exactly is the problem? Not sure why people have to resort to snidy personal comments round here.

You also might want to look at your posting history, seems I’m not alone in commenting on lots of Up GTI threads. Mind you, it’s likely your usual anti-anything VAG, Jap is better vitriol.

Ignoring the trolls....

There has been some criticism from owners that there is a fair bit of wind noise around the A-pillar, something a few people have solved by fitting wind deflectors. Stability is supposed to be good, but with such a short wheel base ride is never going to be as comfortable as in something a class or two above. The standard Goodyear tyres have a fairly soft sidewall though.
