I had a 91plate VT version of that Civic.
What a great car it was.
150bhp and sounded awesome with a K & N 57i Induction kit fitted. Well it sounded awesome to a 22 year old.
great cars. the other half had a EF which came with the twin carbs from the factory. airbox removed what an amazing sound. What a great car it was.

In the mid-90's I very nearly bought a CRX but ended up going for a Celica instead. I often feel that I made the wrong decision. However, I wrote the Celica off in a nasty shunt that I thankfully walked away from unscathed, and with the insurance money (and a lot more besides) I bought a Corrado VR6. So if I had bought the CRX, it's possible I'd never have owned the Corrado.
Still think the CRX is a great little car - it's a real little pocket rocket.

I miss my white VTEC. Looking back I should of kept it. Would love Honda to bring back a similar shaped & sized car in the future.
I did ruin it with 17” wheels which didn’t help the handling so ended up going back to the original 14” wheels.
They did. The CRZI did ruin it with 17” wheels which didn’t help the handling so ended up going back to the original 14” wheels.

If I remember correctly, magazines at the time were amazed at how quick these things were, and put them up against far more exotic metal in comparison tests.
Which mags did that? They were mid-high 7s and about 20 seconds to a tonQuick, but there were still quicker stuff like the Astra 16v, 5GT Turbo, Maestro Turbo and a couple others
They were set a bit hard to have good fluency over bumpy roads according to most reviews

The Autocar times are done with tming gear and both of them quicker than the UK model CRX VTEC tested.( see above in the thread for the times )
No surprise really, the Astra had a smidge more power and roughly same weight and the Renault substantially lighter.
Either way, there really wouldn't be a lot in between these 3 and stuff like the Fiesta RS Turbo, Maestro Turbo, Sunny GTi etc up to 60 and a ton. Would depend on who got a good launch

Brilliant car, but you get way more for your money with an EK9. I know my username might indicate a slight bias!
I dunno. I went from a CRX VT, to a DC2, to an EK9 and then back to an EF Civic. The CRX/EF feel more special to drive to me and i think you can feel the weight difference. The DC2 and EK9 are a bit more polished and clinical, but the older models have a real special feel for me.....and look infinitely cooler

they've aged beautifully and the early 2011 cars can be had for £4k now, about half the price of a similar vintage prius.
I seem to remember reading about a CRZ with some sort of Type R engine swapped in. May even have been an S2000 lump. They look great with some good wheels and a small bodykit. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
