Think I'd be happy enough with an Agera for half the price.

I think the new Regera is about half the price of this too.

I spent most of the day at the last vmax drooling over this car and the other 2 Eggs there and chatting to the owners. Fabulous cars and also have been great investments as they've gone up in value!

Seriously cool cars from an engineering and speed viewpoint. They just squatted down and fecked off!

Funny to think how, back in the day, things like the Ruf Yellowbird and Ferrari F40 were pretty much the ultimate hypercars, but today we can get similar straight line performance for something as attainable(ish) as an Audi RS3. I wonder if, in another 30 years, we'll have uprated family hatches as fast as this Koenigsegg.

I think we are near or at the peak of petrol engined super and hyper cars in terms of speed and power. The next generation will be hybrid or pure leccy or something new.
It's a golden era of performance availability. Even for us mortals who can't afford koenigsegg you can get tremendous power and speed for realistic money nowadays.
500-600bhp v10 R8 for £50-60k would compare well with most of yesteryears ultimate supercars performance.

Pretty scary performance I imagine, even looks like the driver wet themself just before those pics were taken.

Reckon someone had a little accident in a hero moment just before photos were done? Does that look like a wet spot on the drivers seat? wink

Regera is sold out. I think the wait time is about 4 or 5 years too...

Have they ever tested the One:1 for top speed, or any of the Ageras (I think they did one of them?). All these claims of top speed that they've always made but I only ever remember the time they broke the F1's record (with a car that had far more bhp). I've no doubt any of the subsequent cars COULD go miles faster but it's hollow if they never get to actually test it.

Koenigsegg's have always left me cold tbh. I'm sure they're amazingly engineered (I remember the series on Youtube and watched a few episodes and was genuinely impressed) and incredibly fast. Probably unbelievable to drive properly but they just look so st. They're on the edge of kit-car like, just like the Noble M600 is and I think it's because they usually have utterly naff colour schemes and at least in Koenigsegg's case, naff wings and the rest. Plus the basic shape hasn't changed since the CC8 and that itself was derived from a design from the very early 90's so it's well over 20 years old. That reputation they had early on for breaking down all the time took a long time to wash off too.

I certainly wouldn't say no if you offered me one and I'd probably be utterly amazed if I ever got to see one in real life but there are so many other supercars I'd rather buy with my hypothetical millions.

They are absolutely nowhere near on the edge of kit car like that's a ridiculous statement.
It's a fully carbon car sat on active suspension, with active aero, sat on carbon rims and with a megawatt of power.
At vmax in just over a mile it went almost 30mph faster than any other make of supercar there on the day, cracking 240mph if I recall. 2nd and 3rd place were koenigseggs also. Speaking to actual owners the factory support is far better than any other supercar they own, one guy had a 70 car collection he said.

From an investment point of view I believe they've also all increased in value which is a bit of a win-win.

Forgot to add, as for being "probably undriveable" as stated one of the owners son who was 19 or so jumped in and did 220+mph on his first proper go. They certainly look and feel every inch a supercar/HyperCar. The noble there on the day however did not and wasn't in the same league.

Further to their driveability, they are set up by Loris Bicocchi.

Google the cars he's been involved with...

I meant aesthetically. Yes, up close the carbon and the engineering is glorious, I didn't doubt that for a second, it's just they're normally in naff colourschemes and the styling looks like a kit car, just like the M600 does. I actually saw my first M600 in person a few months back and it looked miles better in real life than it does in pictures and I'm sure Koenigseggs are the same but in pictures they look ste.

It's generally coloured carbon, not paint. Every car is individual so I suppose that's down to the owner picking it.
There was a noble m600 there on the day and I can assure you it's not in the same league in terms of fit, finish or performance.

Koenigsegg also send a support crew and their test driver/engineer to any events like vmax f.o.c (obviously built into cost of car) to look after the cars which I thought was good.

Having attended a few vmax events and seen virtually every super car/ HyperCar there is I personally would be buying an Egg, should the situation ever arise lol.

Yeah coloured carbon or paint, it doesn't matter, they almost always look naff.

Like I said I'm not doubting their actual engineering or their prowess and I included the Noble because it has a similar problem for me rather than actually directly comparing the two cars as if they're competitors but you'll read what you want to read so there's not much I can do about that.

Koenigsegg have their own style and their own target market and they play to that and it certainly isn't the one I'd be a part of if absolutely rolling in it although I would like to have a go in one just cause. I'll never be anywhere close to seeing one, let alone owning one so I don't matter but that doesn't stop me or anyone else from voicing my opinion on an open forum, I'm glad you've seen one as you're clearly a massive fan.

Just a fan of performance engineering in general and they have it in spades. I also want a group C sports car of the 90s for the same reason :-)

"there's not much I can do about that."

Sure there is.

Why don't you go out and start your own car firm, then come back to us with your own brilliant creations, and submit them to a pack of ingrates who will sledge your work from dusk till dawn...
