The F90 (or 'current') M5 weighs in at 1855kg (the previous F10 was 1945kg).
No official figures on the M8 yet, but the M850i tips the scales at 1890kg. The M550i by comparison is 1810kg. So 80kg on top of the M5 means a likely M8 weight of 1935kg.

Never mind the car, which has presence I guess, but where were those pictures taken? It looks like the new M6 has been nicked from the factory and driven straight into a poor man's Amazon distribution warehouse awaiting Christmas delivery!

I think it'd help if people judged this car as a super GT car rather than something like a mid-engined supercar.

On an extreme level it's like saying "that Rolls-Royce Wraith is stupid, it needs to be mid-engined"

heavy, full of driver aids, rumored to be £120k, looks fairly boring, not actually that powerful in this day and age, etc

no ty

I'd rather have an extra 4hp (604hp) and save £50k and get an e class amg

It's just vulgar. Especially compared to the original 8-series.

Vulgar?

It may be many things, but that isn't something I would level at it to be honest. confused

(except the chintzy gear knob if they decide to keep that)

S Class coupe competitor in 'not an Alpine A-110' shock...

Looks good to me, reckon I'll prefer the GC though. Might as well have some practicality with your power and presence, it isn't a Caterham after all.

I agree with many on here so we really need another S class coupe or Aston db11 contender ?
By virtue of this being quite a busy sector it will depreciate heavily.

It’s also far too heavy and it’s over priced... the 850m or main Petrol mode is 100k base price which is mad.
Having said that a 992 carerra S is basically 110k pretty much base spec. So a gts will no doubt get to 130k whenever it arrives.

I guess it depends if you need rear seats or not but it’s a pretty niche market.

The car in the photos already seems to have 'Competition' badging. The strip under the 'M8' is unreadable but looks the same as that on the M5 and M2 Competition.

it's not a pretty car. Please name 1 current BMW that is pretty to the eye... It's all aggressive and a lot of holes and lines,,, they are all just plain ugly, really. But hey, maybe the Chinese just have a different perspective on what looks pretty....

2 things

1 - is the price for this confirmed yet? I think it's merely rumoured at around £120k which leads to the next point
2 - show me a 66 plate M6 for £20k

And actually...
3 - what if, just what if, someone doesn't want a 2nd hand car? When the M6 came out did you say "save £100k and get xyz...."....well if nobody bought that new M6 there wouldn't be a 2nd hand one to choose from.
