I think you are having a selective memory moment there and that's being kind. Still on the bright side I made it through that post without nodding off.
Selective memory? Let's go through the facts.Did you say it was a majority? Yes.
Did various people from all "mobs" provide and debate evidence, and conclude the number was between 30 and 40%? Yes.
Did anyone suggest there was any evidence that number was greater than 40%? No
Would you acknowledge that the number wasn't a majority? No.
Those aren't opinions or memories, those are facts.
Seems to me you keep confusing dreams and reality. Either put the IT down and pour yourself a cocoa, or go for a nice cycle ride and warm your brain up.
Here is what Fif and I came up with from the TfL data on the subject of lory related deaths in London all those months ago:
Last 3 years, cycling deaths in London - 14 deaths in collision with lorry, 2 with buses, 4 with car, 1 with bicycle.
14 out of 21 are lorry related, 16 out of 21 lorry/bus
I'll let you do the maths.
If you recall, the stats you were quoting from were national not London based. Bit of a cock up on your part that one!

I did a survey last night, journey from Aylesbury to St Albans and back ~1hr15mins.
Cyclists with no lights - 1
Cars with broken lights - 31
Genuine question - in what way were the 31 lights broken? Misaligned in which case I see plenty of those, but one or more not functioning at all I see a lot less of these days probably as modern cars tell you on the dash when specific lights are out.Cyclists with no lights - 1

I've seen a number of cars with taillights not working, and at first thinking they just dont have their lights on but then seeing the headlights on. Modern cars nearly all warn when bulbs are not working, so not sure why people are driving around like that.Nanook said:
Changing bulbs is a pain in the ass these days.
The rear indicator bulbs on my car are in the bumper, not the rear clusters.
You have to remove the read clusters to get anywhere near them though.
I changed the sidelights recently too. First thing you have to do is jack the car up and take the front wheels off.
Hardly convenient to change at the side of the road.
Yeah I have heard this about some cars and it's just daft frankly. Luckily mine are all fairly easy to change. The rear indicator bulbs on my car are in the bumper, not the rear clusters.

Not cyclists in general, just the usual bunch of users on here who aren't capable of discussing any issues raised about cycling without becoming personal, petty and divisive in the hope the point of the discussion gets lost in the mire so as to speak. Not sure why they are so defensive unless some of the complaints raised have some truth to them of course.
!
Fairly sure that's your own reflection you see in your computer screen !

Just did a quick check, the numbers I quoted were London based, not National. The National based numbers were even lower. So no, not a cock up.
Sorry, but you're talking nonsense, the national numbers showed a lower percentage of HGV deaths, but the thread was about London and you did use national figures as if they were London only, it was FiF who pulled you up on it. As for cherry picking... all statistics are based on data samples and time periods, I just looked at the last 3 years at the time as they seemed relevant to the present, you're basically just clutching at straws and not remembering things quite the way they happened!FiF said:

That's consistent with what I see in London most weeks. Again, where is the "chaos" repeatedly described (by only one poster) ?
One poster - is that apart form all the others on this thread reporting similar? If you're going to accuse people of being mentally ill try not doing a good impression of being challenged yourself. To Killboy - you are riding in the centre of the city with the main city commuters who will no doubt be more sensible with lights, Try getting out of the centre a little and checking out the kids, teenagers and those commuting to/from less well paid work shall we say. Also have look later at night after the rush hour. That said when I was in London I'd still see a fair few of the main commuters without lights, trying to turn left across the cycle lane onto the A320 (I think it is) just south of the river was always a fun one.
Killboy said:
Just how far out of the center do I need to go? I don't live in the center, and my commute takes me through a good few areas, and it doesnt change much.
You don't need to go anywhere, I'm not telling you what to do. I'm genuinely just saying that my observations tended to differ from when you were out towards Brixton, Peckham, Herne Hill, Dulwich, Balham than just north of the river.Killboy said:

Lol, okay. I'm building a house in one of these areas and will gladly prove you wrong, again. nickfrog said:

No chaos whatsoever. I haven't seen anyone else in this thread reporting "chaos" in London.

You're babbling and no, I'm not so crass as to call someone on the Internet mentally ill... I said you were doing an impression! Learn to read.
Learn to read, coming from you. At least I don't continually invent things that people haven't written. It's not being crass calling you mentally ill : I am just reading the stuff you write and draw the conclusion. You provide all the evidence, in spades. Happy to be wrong btw but you've been doing a brilliant job reinforcing my view over the past few months.

The phrase 'full retard' is a reference to a bad comedy film.
That's not to say it's acceptable, but when someone says 'full retard' I think of Robert Downey Junior in blackface, not some mentally disabled kid in a wheelchair.
Yep, Tropic Thunder, but don't let the persecution stop just because of facts. That's not to say it's acceptable, but when someone says 'full retard' I think of Robert Downey Junior in blackface, not some mentally disabled kid in a wheelchair.

No, no, I'm fine with the persecution, you imply someone's retarded and mentally disabled, then when you're pulled up on it, you try wriggle out of it, accuse someone else of calling you mentally disabled, and how that's such a horrible thing, you'd never do that...In my eyes, you're a spineless little POS, so I'm fine with all of these people tearing into you, please don't misinterpret my post as me somehow standing up for you.
However, I've read people say things like "That post gave me an aneursym" before, and I don't take personal offence just because I know someone that suffered from such an affliction.
All of this has taken us off topic, the OP, which was a complete fabrication in the first place, so...

All because selfish retarded morons can't either wait a few seconds/minutes to pass a lorry safely, or learn to take a different route on bin day.

Nope. It’s as sound as your retarded number plate suggestions. Stop being such a miserable bell.

You, and anyone else that uses the word retard is scum IMO.
Well that's your opinion and fair enough, you're entitled to it, but I think people say things in the heat of the moment that they might not say at other times. To me there is a world of difference between that and repeatedly telling someone they're mentally ill. That said I guess we all have different opinions on what is acceptable and what isn't and on reflection maybe frog just thinks that's OKI just think this thread has got way out of hand and a million miles off topic and for once I have played very little part in the hurling insults side of it, but again that's just my opinion.
