I know this sounds ridiculous, but I never used to see as many Lamborghini’s, I’ve probably only seen 2 Diablo’s in my life, and that was years ago when they were still being made. It was a special thing when you’d see one.

Nowadays I see so many Huracans and Aventadors, it ain’t even special anymore. You log into Instagram and the same thing! Are people just richer now?
This is spot on, Back in the 1980s Lambo sold the Jalpa, Countach and LM002. When did you ever see one of these outside of a race circuit paddock? Maybe near Portman Lamborghini in central London, but that was about it. I think they sold about 54 RHD Jalpas from a total of 410 manufactured in 8 years of production and a handful of Silhouettes before that. In comparison, under VAG ownership Lamborghini went on to build over 14,000 Gallardos. That's 34 times as many cars in the same entry level Lambo market sector. No doubt the Huracan will prove even more popular.

Probably because Lambo were really struggling to sell cars and it took VAG to take them out of the abyss!

I'm not saying it's right or wrong. Lamborghini somehow survived the first 35 years without VAG, even with these low sales. They still introduced some amazing cars during that period.

Love it. A poster car I grew up with, and every Diablo iteration is one I'd be happy to own.

My boss has a VT tucked away with 800 miles from new. Sadly I feel this is the fate of many of these desirable (and perhaps controversial) rarities - I've only ever seen two Diablos on the road.

Cant say it grabs me massively compared to newer ones, which to my eye are much better looking, if not quite as outlandish.

I do remember "racing" one down the A34 bypass in a Golf GTI, a woman driving and just having a laugh, it was massively fast in a straight line compared to a MK2 Golf GTI, but she wasnt quite as committted across the roundabouts, nearly piled into the back of it biggrin sounded like thunder, left a smell like when the Red Arrows go past and more smoke than I expected, it had the reg D114BLO.

But that applies to almost all "premium" brands. When I was growing up I only ever saw Ferraris at the Motor Show. Even with Porsche I can only remember seeing one 911 out in the wild before in the 1980s. Now (apart from my own!) I see Porsches of some description every day.

Do you not think we see more Lambo's etcc now as they are more usable and there are places outside of London to get them maintained? People can buy a 10 year old Gallardo and consider using it most days. Imagine buying a 10 year old Countach and taking it to the shops etc

I've never been particularly keen on supercars of any era, however I have always like the Diablo, particularly in GT spec, and again in the orange paintwork.

The only other supercar I can think of that I would actually expend effort on getting, given the money, would be a Bugatti EB110, or perhaps a McLaren F1.

Late 80s/early 90s seems to be the start and end of my supercar appreciation!

Love the Diablo, but agree with some posters that this one isn't the best of them.

I have still have a poster on my wall and the model on my desk at home. Plus I can remember every time I've seen one in the wild, sad, I know!

The last time was at this year's LeMans and it sounded epic. Note the PH smiley on the wing biggrin

One of the best was at Casino square in Monte Carlo. probably around 15/15 years ago. Turned up outside the hotel and a crowd gathered to drool over it. The guy chucked the keys at the valet who then proceeded to stall it repeatedly in front of said crowd, the poor bugger.

Used to be a regular poster on here - Tony_666 - although I haven't seen him post for a while.

A good mate of mine had a Diablo a few years ago. (Until he put it on it's roof after someone he attempted to overtake also started an overtake of the car in front of them). The clutch didn't seem too bad, but then I was used to the heavy action on a Viper I owned at the time. The Diablo didn't feel quite as urgent or nimble as the Viper, but was nevertheless one of those cars that gave you 'that feeling'. Driving it was an event. Opening and lowering those famous lambo doors. Sinking into the deeply carved arse hugging seat. And that V thrumming and howling away right behind your ears ! It gave him a few hefty bills until he wrote it off.

Ultimate supercar for me, for all of the reasons other people don't want one. It's an evil pig of a car, and I love it. Older versions without the 300ZX lights for me, probably full SE30 'Cosmic Girl' spec (albeit with a windscreen hehe)

Still on the road, last mot'd with 36k.

I love these, the proportions are a little odd, which seems to look worse in pictures than real life but there's just something about them. I remember walking past a purple one parked by the side of the road, I think the plate was L666LAM and spending a while just in awe of it. The want was sealed as I walked out of the village shop a few hundred yards down the road and heard it start smile

I drove a Diablo SV on a track day once, what an experience, probably the quintessential driving highlight for me so far. I'd love to own one of these, but it'll sadly never happen.

real handbuilt cars, brutal with lots of presence and a feeling of something special even when its stood still.

quite a kick to drive, clutch isn't that heavy, cornering capability is incredible, though can be a handful in the snow!

love mine, if you haven't guessed :-)

Shoebag? I don't remember her registration number, but it sounded awesome!

This has been for sale forever.
Any idea how much they are asking for it?
Sure it was up for about 190K a while back but as Gameface mentions it's been for sale forever so maybe you could get it for a lot less.
