It’s difficult to opine with certainty but I strongly suspect that Joey from Friends would probably have caught that with a dab of oppo and missed the pick up with ease. He’s a class act and no mistake.

Evans would have smashed into it in an explosion of ginger hair implants and wild proclamations of climbing mountains rolleyes

Pah, hamsters are obviously much better at crashing than monkeys.

To the people saying he should have been able to stop - we don’t know what happened.

All you can do on the road is be able to stop in your visible distance for your side of the road. If your side of the road suddenly becomes blocked because someone else did something stupid and came onto your side there isn’t much you can do.

Yes that's what the Highway Code says

But if I parked a load of cars across the road, around blind bends, I suspect all would be hit within a few minutes

We all drive in the real world and very few actually drive to half their stopping distance - particularly in high performance cars

Except I’m a driving god and in order to feel at one with a gt RS I’d cleatly have to crash it at least twice in order to know its limits. This sounds like a most unfortunate accident with a car parked across a bend- a situation many of us might lose out on...

I was just on his Instagram today admiring that GT3 RS, stunning car, what a shame, that must be a write off.

Funny another poster mentioned, if it can happen to him, it can happen to anyone, I’ll be extra careful from now on hehe
Given a GT3 Touring's value I'd be surprised if it was, cars worth a lot less have been jigged and repaired.

Sure but the salvage value on that will be a lot of money so the value of the car fixed is only one factor...

Thirded.

I hit black ice on a bend a few years back and stuck my car into the verge. Until I'd got back up the road on foot to warn approaching cars, every single car that came round the corner to find us sticking out into the road came within inches of smacking into us. I wouldn't say any of then we're driving irresponsibly. None of them would have been able to bring their cars to a dead halt in time.

No idea of the specifics of it, but the photo reminds me of a near miss from a few years back.

NSL long left hander near my home, cold winter day. I was doing 60, no more. Postie in his van on a side road. Looks. Sees me. Decides to pull out in front of me anyway, then realised it was a stupid idea. Rather than keep going he just stopped, I couldn’t see round him due to the shape of the corner. Fortunately, stopped about two foot away from him. Had just put winter tyres on the week before.

Got away with that one. No doubt Chris was enjoying his car but that is a stupid place for a vehicle to do a 3 point turn. Glad no one hurt.

Big difference between your tale and this one is the size of the repair bill on the cars mentioned in both stories.

I disagree - even driving sensibly we can get caught out by circumstances - I challenge you to imagine a car across the next bend you drive around- I know that is how we should treat bends but we don’t always do so. Pressure of traffic behind us etc..

So the other drivers would have become irresponsible if I'd parked a Buggati in the verge rather than my very fine GT4 Celica? hehe

Nope, in one story there was a crash. In the other there were some misses.

...and so it begins.

Anyone with anything even slightly positive to say about CH will be an arse-licker.

That's how it works, isn't it? yes

According to the Highway Code, yes. However, in the real world we don’t all negotiate every blind bend at 10-15mph.

In fairness if this was just a regular MoP(non car journo) car crash being discussed, the comments would more or less follow a different rhetoric.
