RE: BBC confirms live Formula E coverage

Very short sighted I think - if you really want to watch the grass grow , then try the typical BTCC support race . Or if you want entirely to lose the will to live try watching a nine car field of TCR drone round ...
I agree with what's been said about Formula 4, that really is a snooze-fest. I find the Carrera Cup pretty dull too. But the Clio Cup, Ginetta GT4s and Juniors are a better watch than FE any day of the week, the Clio Cup in particular often provides better racing than the BTCC.I wholeheartedly agree that TCR is a farce though...

...then remove the atmosphere of engine sound, the spitting of flames, the sound of driver control over revs, upshifting, down shifting, the vibrations and rumble of engines on the grid, anti-lag, the differentiation of engine notes due to difference of manufacturer etc. etc.Electric powered milk floats do nothing for me, I'd even prefer to watch something as dire as golf for entertainment

Close , good racing has one thing in common- big grids, decent drivers and the opportunity to overtake on track. If FE delivers that , with a quieter sound track , then why not ?
Most of the sniping is the usual resentment of change . It sure ain't the lack of noise as TV doesn't even begin to convey the sound of racetrack noise .I bet people were saying the same in 1906 - ' horseless carriage racing ? Nah, I'll stick to the Derby mate '
That bit I've highlighted, that's the bit missing from FE. Mainly, as I said previously because they use street tracks with no runoff and short straights.Close , good racing has one thing in common- big grids, decent drivers and the opportunity to overtake on track. Most of the sniping is because FE is boring to watch.

Are these still standardised cars?
To me this should be the cutting edge of EV tech with the big boys spending big money to test and prove the technology. With basically no rules except they have to go the distance and be full EV. Let the manufactures play around with battery sizes and charging speeds they would soon figure out what works best.
I might be wrong but didn’t the last cars not go as far as a Tesla p90d or as fast in a straight line?
I had overheard, and this could be wrong, but Jaguar have had to turn down the I-Pace trophy cars because they were lapping quicker than the Formula E's To me this should be the cutting edge of EV tech with the big boys spending big money to test and prove the technology. On the subject of which, I'm much more looking forward to the I-Pace trophy, hoping it'll basically be electric touring cars.
This is possibly a good thing. FE is very much evolving and need a higher level of exposure. It all depends on the BBC. They will need to do more than an inclusiveness tick box pretention team. Some behind the scenes programs to bring out the characters within the sport and they might be onto something.

It has to be full on, driver bios, interviews, grid walks, really good presenters, the works, for it to be a success.None of those generic presenters, they need an expert who isn't monotone and is enthusiastic. Not picked from the "this is a name people will know" list. So no FE presented by Michael Ball or Sandi Toskvig or John Barrowman, or Jonathan Ross et al. And definitely no Greens. The presentation has to be just for the racing for it to work on TV.

I just can't help wondering which lesbian female presenter the BBC have lined up for the job.
You presumably would prefer somebody terribly manly - anyone in mind I wonder ? coppice said:
Like Clare Balding , say ? What the hell does it matter - in 2018 for Chrissake - what somebody's sexual orientation may be ? Do you want a monopoly of straight white guys - an endless succession of Colemans, Linekers and Boycotts ? .
Exactly, it doesn't matter but you should be telling that to the BBC.mygoldfishbowl said:

Exactly, it doesn't matter but you should be telling that to the BBC.Hire the best person for the job in question.... not discriminate against white male candidates by having a policy to hire primarily from the rainbow. (Which seems to be the case with BBC and others)
