I wrote in the DBX thread that given the number of 'sports' SUVs they should have some sort of race series, so I think this is great to see. As an earlier poster said, bring in other makes too. Cayennes/ Macans, the Maser one, DBXs, Stelvios, F Paces, RR Sports, plus a couple of Bentaygas and Cullinans. What's not to like? Sort of offroad truck racing!

Nope. I thought "Awesome! They're going to smash loads up doing Paris-Dakar"

RX no, Dakar style events YES.

Premier brands competing in endurance style off road events, GT racing on the dirt. Hell YES.

Opportunity to relieve very rich people from their money. Yep that's what this is.

I wonder how robust they'll really be?

Part of the reason that rallycross cars, stadium trucks, WRC cars and even touring cars, to an extent, are so good to watch IMO, if that they're much more robust, for being being on a custom chassis/spaceframe, than a road car with a rollcage would be.

Obviously, these things will be modified to an extent, but are they going to be as stiff, rigid and tough as something purpose built?

It would be terrible if there was no contact and no big jumps because they're scared of bending a wishbone.
Many a rally, touring and rallycrosss car is based off a stock shell. That's what seam welding and extensive roll cages are for.

They should do some kind of 'school runs championship' or 'ego endurance series' with all these new, fast suvs.

Brilliant! So the Urus is definitely not completely pointless, because now we can go racing in them. biggrin

Watching a dozen or two rich kids rallycrossing will be undoubtedly amusing (and provide a great deal of work for the Lamborghini body shop), but surely someone is going to have a go at the Dakar in one of these?

I’m personally not especially keen on the looks of the Urus, but this is brilliant! The world needs way less pointless negativity, and far more pointless fun biggrin

Most excellent! thumbup

Urus STX does sound like it could be an ointment you might use on a sensitive area.

What a fantastic idea, get Ferrari, Porsche, Bentley and Land rover in there too and you'd have a brilliant spectacle to watch.

I suspect I'm extremely late to the party here but why didn't they hide the rear door handles in the window frame like on a Civic/Alfa?

I was thinking something similar to Stadium Trucks - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iV8PFYnWHiw

Let all the big boys in, Urus, Bentayga, Q7/8, Range Rover, G Class etc.

Now that might be entertaining.
I agree 110%! This looks like fun, a deviation from the norm in a good way. Really don't understand the hate from some people on here. Might be the usual British attitude towards things that don't fit a prescribed norm.

Large Truck/ lorry racing is awesome, ergo this should be too, especially is they do it stadium truck style.

They do a Stelvio Quadrifoglio with 2.9 V6 bi-turbo 510BHP version.
