Apparently Ghosn will hold a press conference next week in Beirut, on January 8th. Could be interesting. I wonder if there'll be an extra strong perspex screen in use?
He’s very well liked in Lebanon. From what I’ve read it was a disgrace. Rearrested 4 times to keep him locked up. Lights in in his cell all night. Heavy handed interrogation. Tannedbaldhead said:

Ghosn has either taken the piss in a big big way or possibly more likely has fallen victim to some Japanese establishment agenda.
The 'Japanese establishment agenda' in question is 'don't let the French government take control of Nissan'.Ghosn has either taken the piss in a big big way or possibly more likely has fallen victim to some Japanese establishment agenda.
Specifically; because Renault rescued Nissan from the brink of bankruptcy in 1999, Renault hold far more shares in Nissan than vice-versa. Ghosn was suspected of arranging a 'merger' between the two companies, which would have put the Renault executives in charge. The French govt have a substantial shareholding in Renault, so would likely have ended up with significant control over the merged entity, while the Japanese government would have no formal say/stake in the fate of their second-largest car company and a major employer and exporter.
To be clear, I don't personally think this justified arresting Ghosn, but I think the motivation is clear and to some extent understandable.

I applaud this move. He was being treated like an animal and he had no chance of a fair trial.
Like an animal? Really...?It's worth bearing in mind that Ghosn has had a team of lawyers and - significantly - PR people working for him since his initial arrest. The PR people have been busy, and much of what you read about all this in English and French has roots connected with the output of his PR people.
I don't see Ghosn as the heroic 'fugitive from injustice' that his PR people are painting him.

^^^^^What he said.He was in an impossible situation with no hope of a fair trial and the general issue had become a political one.
Sure is embarrassing for the Japan establishment
