Exactly. It’s the biggest contribution to traffic congestion in these parts since the man who had to walk in front of cars holding a red flag.
So what you are saying is that if the Qashqai hadn't have been brought to market there would considerably less congestion in your parts as the current owners would be left with no option but to walk as oppose to drive something else thus creating exactly the same amount of congestion? It's an interesting theory. I also had dealings with Mr Botnar and his then Financial Director. I worked for the ad agency with the Datsun/Nissan account and I was responsible for the ad campaign for the name changeover and a number of car launches including the 240/260Z and the Prairie, (remember that!) We were due for a major presentation of new ideas at their HQ in Worthing and were met by a number of the OB removing the said players from the premises. He was not a nice man...
In a new twist to this tale, Ghosn has just recently arrived in Lebanon despite his strict bail conditions insisting that he remain in Japan.

If he's taken a few quid with him good luck getting him out of there. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-50952335

FWIW, here in Japan the media seem just as much in the dark as everyone else, no new information as far as I can tell.
The way I see it, whatever Ghosn actually did, the real reason he was arrested in 2018 was on suspicion of arranging for Renault to take over Nissan; the legal charges were a pretext to prevent that outcome, which was regarded as unacceptable by the Japanese government.
Given that the real aim of arresting him, derailing any merger, has already been achieved, then his escape back to Lebanon I regard as no bad thing. In fact I have a bit of a suspicion that someone in authority in Japan may have turned a blind eye to get rid of an embarassment - but I assume further details will be revealed shortly.
Hmmmmm. Japanese State Minister for foreign affairs was in Beirut 20th December. Curious timing.

Yeah, that’s a good insight actually.
Maybe on paper they’ll seek to extradite him, but with no real effort being put in and let the whole thing quietly left to drift into the history books as a footnote.
Lebanon has no extradition agreement with Japan. Ghosn's official passport is still in Japan but various TV drama programmes tell us that powerful folk have ways and means to get a nod-through the private jet door at Immigration. Still think though that they’ll officially be seen to try to resolve whilst doing doing naff all behind the scenes. It’s now job jobbed for both parties.
