992 Dacia Duster Edition anyone?

I do wonder how cheaply they could make one like this.

It's nothing to do with how much it costs to make. Porsche's contribution margin on a given car is in excess of 25%. Same with any realpremium brand, really. Compare that with 1-5% of any typical car...

Me, yes please!!!

I recall back in the day when people were impressed with electric windows. Isn't it now the opposite? My 23 year son seems to think that's it's cool to have wind-up windows nowadays.

I'll take my 911 stripped bare, please. However, they wouldn't strip it to the extent that I'd want it stripped and that's why I'd never buy one - and I'm about 100K too short redface

You know that these days, electric window winding mechanisms are lighter than the equivalent manual one?

And me - electric windows are fine until they stop working, particularly if they stop working when they are down and it's raining.

In 16 years of driving cars, and probably over 500,000 miles (many of which have been in reply crap prototypes) I have never once had an electric window get stuck down. I can say with pretty reasonable confidence, that a 2019 production 911 will not ever have a problem when the windows winding up...

And, believe it or not, the only time I've ever had a window mechanism fail was a manual one! It was a Rover mind.

I think choosing not to have electric windows because they might break is idiotic. Plus they're heavier.

Must be an idiot for having a 30 year old car I suppose.

Sorry? Are you talking to me? I can't imagine so, because my car isn't 30 years old, and when the window mechanism broke in the Rover the car was around 11 years old. I have had a 30 year old car, but that window mechanism was ok, so not sure what the 30 year comment is about? confused

No - I'm the idiot with the 30 year old car on which the electric windows have failed three times. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I'd love to know the percentage of people that get these for driving hard and those that wouldn't know driving hard if it bit them in the arse. Like Rolex, good quality but let's not get carried away thinking everyone that owns one is a horologist.
I used to drive hard and would accelerate with pedal on the metal especially during turns and many times in the rain. That was until I spun out of control in a wet turn. While this was not in my Carrera but in my Lambo, I since stopped driving in the rain if I can and had been driving safely on the slow lane at 60mph sometimes with cruise control turned on.

I'm very glad to see a 'wet' mode. Given Porsche seem to be supplying their new cars with Pirelli P Zeros which are as much use in the wet as an ashtray on a motorbike, I assume this mode will limit it to about 80 bhp. My partners 991 4S is frightening in the wet the tyres are so useless. The 997 4S it replaced was on Michelins and worked perfectly in the wet, and was nicer in the dry too. So I am glad to see they are addressing this issue, but it would have been a damn sight easier for them just to fit some Pilot Sport 4Ss!

On the looks. Like the front, jury out on the back until I see one in the metal.

I concur. P0s are awful in the rain. The tires on 997 4S are indestructible. You don’t feel any difference in the rain.
