It is funny that with all this high tech electric this electric that malarkey going on, the two cars that seem to get people excited, are 'old school' trucks.. One diddy (Jimny) and one Biig (Gladiator)

I really like it. I just feel I may need to up my gym presence to 'The Rock' levels to perfect the look. biggrin
We're just kids at heart and want a Tonka truck. Looks great without a roof, but horrid with imo.

I like it, but can't help feeling it is the car Jeep needed 5 years ago. Also, 750kg payload and 3.5t towing aren't great figures, for all they sound better in lbs. I would still like one though!
This leapt out at me too! The payload and towing capacity aren't bad but most bigger 4x4s can match or exceed it for payload and gvw.

Its more Defender 130 than 110. Check the wheelbase numbers. My JK 4door is 6" longer than a 110 already.

Basic physics on the payload and towing weight, its not that big or that heavy and is the equivalent or higher than all midsize trucks. Cant see how they are disappointing, who is towing more than 3.5t?
Although given the different regulations and ways to measure between the US and EU I don't know if it will be comparable anyway.

For most the US it also has to have a gap to the capability of the RAM1500.

You can't legally tow more than 3.5 tons over here with a conventional car/light truck without getting tangled up in lgv regs like having to have a tachograph.

Very cool vehicle. But I can’t see anything other than maybe a token limited edition for the UK. Jeep UK seem to have no interest or intent to sell such vehicles over here.

Has anyone noticed the new JL Wrangler is priced the same as a Porsche Boxster ffs!!!! But only in the UK. In the US the Wrangler starts at about 50% the price of the Porsche confused

Looks like I’ll be buying a Jimny.....
We get utterly ripped off here frown

Yep - couldn't believe that they'd priced it at £40k+, considering how reasonable the prices were a few years ago.

I think they're targeting the lifestyle/leisure market and positioning it in the aspirational vehicle bracket
In fairness they probably saw what muppets were / are paying for the last of the Defenders and thought they'd better raise their price !

I have a lot of time for Jeep.

My wife drives a 2017 Cherokee Overland and I must say it is a brilliant car. Much overlooked in this country but in truth it is every bit as good as an Evoque/Q5/X3 and in some respects much better.

Utterly reliable after 10k so far. Has not missed a beat or needed a single unscheduled dealer visit. Seats are some of the best I have sat in. Sat Nav and media is vastly better than JLR. It is quick, quiet, comfortable and does 45mpg.

Spent some time in the US earlier and rented a Wrangler. Great cars. They deserve to move in and take the space JLR abandons as they pretend to be challenging Bentley with unreliable blingy creations.

That looks awesome!!

And priced correctly, is just the sort of thing many British farmers would want.

The priced correctly truck that does everything a farmer wants is already on the market, the Isuzu D-Max. Same towing and payload too.

Nope, most farmers would probably prefer a SWB pickup. More nimble and much better in confined areas. The 90 pickup was the best selling model for Welsh hill farmers and in places like the Peaks, Lakes and Yorkshire. Round here they are still popular, although obviously none are new these days.

Being SWB is also why the Daihatsu FourTrak garnered some success in this market for a period of years (as well as keen pricing).

I want one of these so bad. Its impractical for 90% of what I do but that 1 day a week when I take my boy mx or I do a track day I'd love it.

I've driven the new Wrangler and the pictures dont do it justice. The Rubicon was huuuge.

I think they’d sell quite a few diesel ones here if they could get it classified as a commercial vehicle
