Fantastic thing and much more desirable than the Bentley or Lambo IMO. Was reading an American group test of this and some others and rather worryingly, the brakes caught alight after some spirited road driving. Not even on a track. Can't remember which site that was on.
The overheating brakes could be down to driving style rather than any failing in the car. On the road they're more likely to ride the brakes into the corner and trigger the traction control (applying the brakes again) out of the corner regardless of what anyone claims about dabbing oppos in the canyons.

Will this be in RHD? I would love one, utterly mental in the best possible way.

I'm slightly puzzled why fast SUVs are so often slated on here but that this is 'cool'. Presumably, lack of a German badge, big V8 and rarity? I'm sure it does sound awesome though!

But then at less than half the price again you could have an Ateca Cupra, with an easy remap to 400bhp, and with 800kg less would only be 50bhp/ton behind. Would sound a bit crap in comparison as you tried to keep up.

I don't know about you but I know the Bentayga pisses on the Jeep, from a great height...

I've been in the Jeep. Is it as beautifully appointed as the Bentley, of course not, it's cheap but it's not bad at all. Now to the exterior the Jeep wins hands down. I'd take the jeep every time.

I have the Summit version. It's a nice place to be.

They do a bling-ish interior as an option;

Nope

I have an elderly 5.7 Hemi Grand Cherokee and I keep looking to upgrade to ‘just’ an SRT, but even 3 year old SRTs are barely dipping below £30k. Feel free to google autotrader or whatever and find an 18 month old SRT - that started way cheaper than a TrackHawk -for £30k.

But I am sorely tempted to just give up on the new TVR and get one of these instead.

Likewise looking to replace my Touareg soon. The SRT at $67k is stupid value and 0-60 in 4.3 and 7200lb towing is epic.

When the last SRT came out the 3 year residuals were better than the RR at around 60% it was reported at the time. Also I dont think you pay full RRP for these where as I suspect the URUS and the like RRP is actually a starting point before it actually has things you want like seats and a steering wheel/

Finally I have an overland looks very similar inside. Is it as nice as a RR etc no course not but it is a nice place to be with a comfortable ride and all the bits just work and off road it works a treat.

I was in the local Jeep dealer yesterday, my GC was in for its 24k service, and sat next to the waiting area was a grey Track Hawk, couldn't resist a look round, its an animal!!!!

Lease figures they had on the windscreen were $7k down, $1k a month over 60 months (I think).

I went for the LUXII Pack, regret not paying the additional $20 a month and going for the Overland, only another year to wait on this lease before I have to make some decisions....... I wonder what stonking lease you could get on a TH by then?

Gotta be down in the $600's surely?

Why does the article bother comparing £/bhp? Seems a rather stupid way of looking at things, when bhp/engines are not the only thing one must consider in the purchasing of a car. I'm sure, in that argument, a Dacia Sandero looks pretty good.

Funny enough I had a poke around one of these the other day in a dealership in Tampa.

I personally thought the interior wasn't half bad. Seemed to have all the toys we've come to expect, massive amounts of room and going by the mustang I've chucked 1,500 miles on in two weeks I have no reason to think it won't be well screwed together or comfortable so couple that with a stonking great engine and you're onto a winner!

Shame we're diddled on price once again though, showroom had it for $86k but with $10k off that in November so for $76k that's a hell of a lot of 'car' for the money. Although just looking at import duties and rates, importing it to the UK personally would end up costing £23k so you wouldn't end up saving a lot at all :S

Living in the frozen North these really Jeeps really are the best option , nobody of sound mind would buy a RR here . Not sure of the current exchange rate but my local dealer has these for 119$ CDN , which seems decent value wink

The interior of the GC is more suited to a sub 40K SUV , 707 horses or not no way it's worth £90K. A used GLE/C/S AMG or Cayenne Turbo, etc with low miles and software re flash would be as fast but much much nicer, depreciate less slowly and much better quality.

Have you sat in one, much less driven one?

I've long been an American car basher for poor quality, well, everything but the cars rolling around these days from Dodge, Jeep, Ford, Lincoln, Chevrolet etc etc really are a far cry from my perceived aged stereotype of american vehicles.

There's now quite a list of modern American cars I'd happily own and three of them were in the Dodge/Jeep dealership (Challenger/Charger/Trackhawk).

I live in the other direction in the Caribbean and likewise no one of sound mind buys a RR here either, some still do of course usually only for the wife to get to yoga in but the running costs are absolutely eye watering when things inevitably go wrong. ($6000 and 3 months to fix a/c was the last one I heard! hehe)

Yes, the quality of American cars in general has improved immensely since they all nearly went bust a decade ago. Interiors in many models are pretty close to German standards.

The manufacturers are also not scared of letting the skunkworks teams come up with halo cars like this Trackhawk and new Corvette ZR1 which are genuine competition for their European rivals at any price.

Also, interiors:-

First up, the Jeep

Now the Bentayga

And the Urus
The Jeep does suffer from being the halo model of a car that can be leased for $200/month. Even at that price the interior is in need of an update.

Powerful jeeps are nothing new but I went with the Cayenne when faced with buying a powerful SUV in the US. OK, I only have 420hp but it’s enough for me. I’m not taking it to the drag strip or track. If that was my plan I’d buy a lotus and lose 4 stone.

I cant see the Jeep being very popular in the UK and neither can Chrysler as they have limited the number to 20.
No doubt the Bentley and the Urus interiors are built of better quality materials, but am I really the only person who thinks they look ghastly?

What a mighty machine. Makes the Cayenne and the Bentayga look a bit limp. The owners of those supposed 'premium' models have been absolutely cucked by the Trackhawk.
