I was simply mocking the previous poster as he deserved. Many think 700hp is unfathomable as they drive a 2 litre diesel and to them, serious performance is a 40 HP remap.

700 HP is quite modest from a modern, American V8. smile
Yeah my 2lt diesel GT3 :rolls eyes:
Even my old 2.9l 80's Fiat makes 640 biggrin

No one is disputing that modified cars can be fun but comparing a modified older car to a new car rolling out the showroom with a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty makes little sense. Especially when we all know they always cost far more and are worth far less than we will ever admit! Modifying an old SRT to Trackhawk spec will cost you what? 30k in parts + labour + an SRT and you'll have an old modified SRT worth about the same as you paid for it. It's a massive false economy.

I’m not denying it’s a superb piece of kit and I’d love one but it’s expensive and my point was you can create something similar for less (see the link above). You can buy stronger transfer/gear boxes, as well as forged rods/pistons and superchargers and put them on a used SRT for much less. If you can afford it though, the Trackhawk obviously is better option.
Why do we get this comment on every factory high performance car that gets released?!

Of course you can make your own quick/quicker version based on a donor car.

Change the record please. rolleyes

How much wouch would you expect to pay for a top of the range proper 4WD with Low/Hi Range(rather than the AWD's that are out there) ?

To give you some perspective a Discovery Sport is £50,000 so the Jeep seems like sensible money to me.
The cheapest Disco Sport is £30,145 - but I assume you weren't going for the entry level front wheel drive 'Pure' model? The cheapest all wheel drive model is the SE, at £32k ish, and the top end model is indeed approaching £50k. But I'm not sure you're comparing apples with apples, and having actually had a Jeep Wrangler hired a few days in California this summer, I wouldn't call it a like for like comparison to the Discovery by any stretch. Completely different vehicles.
I had to look them up to see if they're still available in the UK, and the Toyota Landcruiser Active is a far more comparable vehicle to the Jeep, and it's £35k-£40k list.

Because it’s true? There’s a whole market in America for people who like making their cars go faster and it been going for many years. Some of us find it interesting and the boring ones amongst us do not.

The model that was listed was a top of the range Overland so I was comparing top of the range models like for like.

They are the only models available in the U.K. .. it’s not top of the range .. it is the range !

Starting price for a wrangler in the U.K. is £46k and that’s the 2 door .. the 4 door is even more

For me a wrangler is a £30k car not a £50k car

I had a good look around them at the New York motor show back in April

In the US they start at $27k (£21k)

The rubicon top of the range is $37k (£29k)

Massively overpriced in the U.K.

This passed me on the street in Paris on Wednesday. I got a bit excited, as it's the first one I've seen on public roads (the last one was black at a car show), and it confirms white must the worst colour for the Urus. Can my perception of a car be colour dependent? I really like the Urus, but hated this!
Yep the outside is as much of a mess as the inside ….
Door handle placement looks odd - half way down the doors and on the rear wheel arch. Not a fan of the tuning forks on the front either. Still would though.
Looks better in a darker colour smile

Overland has been the Top Spec sold in the UK (Rubicon being more Off Road orientated) you can also buy Limited spec Wranglers in the UK, I don't think they're bad money when you consider what a Defender would've set you back if it had similar spec to an Overland.

All cars coming from outside of Europe get taxed heavily hence the price rise.

Cheapest you can buy is a Sahara at £44k

Mental money for a two door jeep which competes with stuff around the £30k mark

If you want a 4 door the cheapest is £47k !!

Your point was it's overpriced and you can make your own version for a fraction of the cost?

But you spent 100k on that Aussie thing and you think the Trackhawk is overpriced?! eek

I'd rather be boring with warranty and residuals.

Fair point and I didn’t plan to spend that much. Took a few false starts (and 2 blown engines) to get right and somebody has to pay for development costs. Having said that, some have travelled a well trodden path and spent a third or what I spent, learning from my mistakes. Nothing wrong with modified cars, just don’t be the first!

What an interesting car - only just realised that these were available in the U.K.

PHs article said:
Only 20 Trackhawks will be available to UK customers this year, with no word on future allocation. As Andrew Tracey, Marketing Director of Jeep UK, puts it: "There won't be many of these incredible Grand Cherokee Trackhawks available in the UK so, just like the car, customers are going to have to be quick."
Marketing director was rather hopeful though as there’s still 10 available on autotrader.

I've been looking at these recently, can't afford one at 90k which got me thinking, you can get 675bhp from a SRT if you supercharge it, all in for 40k ish.

I can afford 40k, but then it's the fuel cost as I'd want it as a daily!
