The words red and herring spring to mind . I use to do lots of EU procurement and it really isn't such a big deal at all. The timetables are nothing like as burdensome as TVR told Autocar and as for advertising 'across the whole EU' all that is needed is a proforma e- advert which can be done in a few minutes with the click of a mouse . That is it

In reality 'foreign ' bids are not that common but so what if one comes in better ? TVR seem happy enough to buy an engine from the USA and not a JLR or even Merc V8 . Bit rich to take taxpayers money and then moan about rules which are routine - if they don't like it they can use their own money and employ Dai the brickie .

Sorry but a T350 etc DOES eat a 996 GT3. Simple maths of power to weight ration. They have similar power and the Porsche is about 300kg heavier. The original poster said he had a 996 Gt3. Not a 991....
See above.

Never mind the factory setback stuff, lets have more of the my GT3 is quicker than your/any TVR - no it isn't - yes it is - your talking bo**cks - must be half term stuff biggrin It's properly entertaining... My car is half a second quicker to sixty than yours which must make me more manly/powerfully built/wealthy/a better driver/etc............ hehe Jeez I hope none of us ever grow up biggrin
Takes us oldens back to the good old days hehe

FT2007 was superb, all the TVR owners were magnanimous in their defeat at the hands of my GT3 but be clear, none of the standard cars could top it be it side by side or in times. Be clear also it surprised me as it did the 996 Turbo owner who realised the big debate back in the day about how much quicker the turbo was also bks.

It started miles better, the Tiv's started to come back then around 140mph the aero took over and the GT3 usually started to pull out again. These are facts, tested hard and well. Times don't lie and my car was dynode at 383bhp against 381bhp stated.

You got to love the internet, where two cars, driven by different people, once, and one beats the other by a whole 30 milliseconds equates to "eaten alive"... Using that metric, could i just point out that TVRs and Porsches are clearly both total crap as they are "eaten alive" by a 25 year old mazda...... ;-)

Irony is, the ones doing the 'eating alive' lost rotate

hehe

I bought 2 Mazda's off the back of this too, but both are MUCH slower so I suspect that RX7 was a cheater.

From what I've heard of the Welsh Government though I shouldn't be surprised. Competence isn't a word naturally associated with them.
As a proud and patriotic welshman i'm absolutely ashamed on the way the WAG is run..It is without doubt the most incompetent, useless and wasteful organisation yet created by the human race..They seem to be run by a bunch of greedy self centred AMs rathe like a giant pigsty full of pigs.
After many years of having to deal with the WAG i empathise with TVR despite acknowledging the fact that i could have predicted these totally avoidable delays..
I wish TVR all the best of luck as their going to need it..!

I would never call my 996 GT3 bland, boring or something granny could drive to the shops. Quicker than any TVR yes, but never bland hehe
Tosh. A 996 GT3 gets eaten for breakfast in a straight line by the Sagaris, Tuscan, T350, Tamora, and Cerbera. Not saying its a bland car, nor a bad one at all... just that it's not as quick as many TVR's.

Its interesting looking at those old times and terminal velocities over 3/4 miles to see how far tuners have moved the game forward. With mild bolt ons 997 turbos are running 165mph to 175mph in only 1/2 mile nowadays and 200mph within a standing mile! All with very good reliability.

My comment re TVR is what happens when they reach a corner or have to slow down from those sort of speeds like at Bedford Autodrome GT Circuit where I'm hitting 165/170mph on the straight over multiple laps .Fast in straight line means very little. Still fun though smile

Great times.... I prefer terminal velocity for the reasons I said at the time, it helps remove the idiot behind the wheel and starts.... not forgetting the Cerbera's were an over 10 years old at the time...

Much prefer the terminal velocity listing as it removes a fair bit of the idiot behind the wheel letting the car down smile.

Much prefer the terminal velocity listing as it removes a fair bit of the idiot behind the wheel letting the car down smile.

Back to TVR deposit holders. I'd offer full deposit returns immediately to any disgruntled prospective purchasers. If they do not this is only heading one way...

Eh ?? The deposits are non-binding and can be returned any time. Money will be returned without any deductions and all you lose is your slot in the queue. Quite a few have already decided to return it and there were no problems.

Good to know. I assume if you think there's a queue that you're still optimistic this car will make production? You do realise VW probably went through well over £1 billion developing the 911 platform?

There sure is a queue and i'm in it. And though optimism is fading, i absolutely hope that it will make it to production as it is exactly the car i'd love to drive. I wouldn't drive a 911 if VW had poured 2 billion into it. I do admit that there's currently more reason to believe it will not happen, but only time will tell.

Understand where you're coming from on the VW 911. I hope TVR make it too. Done v.well to get it thus far just politely managing deposit holders expectations which is what management should have been doing from day 1 IMO.
