Wow, so a small hot hatchback with a tiny 2.0l engine that's actually 15kg heavier than the first generation Audi A8 executive saloon with it's 2.8l engine and roomy leather clad interior?

That's not progress! It's like adding roller blades to the fat kid at school who refuses to eliminate doughnuts from his training regime to make sure he still podiums in the 100m race come sports day.

Great interior but with the Audi having that 2.5 litre which sounds great and can do 500 bhp and the BMW M2 competion which sounds ok and is 3.0 it does make you wonder how AMG can get a 2 litre to out do them in 2019 in the A45????

My first fast AMG was a C43. Apart from the blemish of a 3.2 V6 they went up to 5.5 and then 6.2 before settling down to a mere 5.5 turbo.

Now this mundane 2 litre 4 pot... hmmmm

That interior still looks good though.
Manufacturers aren't usually that arsed about what back-street tuners can do to competitors cars. 'innit.

What a deeply unattractive car. The amount of chintz in the interior is also very unappealing.

So it's a no from me. First time i saw an A45 AMG with the wing on the back I laughed out loud, so not sure Mercedes were ever going to convince me with the facelift!

And that, ladies and gentleman, is why having been a Mercedes owner for the last 20 years I will never buy a modern Mercedes vomit

Oh for the days when they were boring, refined, classy and understated.

I for one think the interior is fantastic. It's the first car that's managed to integrate large screens well into the flow of the dash rather than plonk one up top. Very smart and modern imo!
One of my first thoughts too. I wonder what it's like in bright sunlight though. Most of the virtual cockpits e.g. Golf are still incorporated under a standard dashboard type "hood" but this seems rather open

"it wasn't an easy decision for AMG to launch an even cheaper version in order to continue the sales growth. This is a division synonymous with high performance and luxury, so the development of a new entry-level model always brings with it risks to image and brand value..."

confused

AMG aren't bothered about plastering their logo over mundane A180ds, so I don't get this argument.

Making a big screen look good in the dash is what Tesla have done. This just looks like a chaotic mess, everything just randomly thrown in. Nothing even vaguely coherent about the design.

Looks like they spent 99% of the budget on the engineering, then realised that they had a few euros left for the dash and just lobbed something together without any thought.

For those moaning about the interior, go and have a look at the BMW 1 and 2 series equivalents. Dour and archaic in comparison.

The A-class will be a big hit with the large screen option ticked because it has huge showroom appeal. S-class tech in an A-class will sell, simple as that.

"The chassis itself is made up of MacPherson strut suspension and weight-reducing aluminium wishbones up front"

Err, what? Are they having to recycle suspension components to make the chassis? bit cheap?

I bet it's too heavy, wide, too firmly sprung and with too many visibility blind spots to ever take on your average B road round here. Perfect for cruzing through the city centre though.

Bingo.

It's all well and good the sages and never gonna buy ones of PH moaning on about "stuck on iPads" (it isn't by the way it's a single piece all digital dashboard) but a stop say this is the mind of thing that sways punters.

The new MBUX system is leading the field right now in that regard.

Couldn't Merecedes have chosen a better colour than British Telecom yellow? Awful.
