Just been having a quick look in the classifieds, I couldn't believe how well these hold their value. Even taking into account a trader's cut and the cost of options, they still seemed to show at least 70% retained value after 3 years.
70% of the list price, or 70% of the fully optioned up price - suspect its the former
As I say I took some account, cars were advertised at £36k, so assumed £44k say plus 3k options, plus say 3k trader profit. The point still stands that they're bloody good residuals - best mass-produced car in the market?
The Macan has the best residuals of any main stream car, the only car which came close when I was looking 2 years ago was the Ateca - but over 3 years & 30K a £25K Ateca & a £50K Macan both lose £10K (now that's man maths to buy a Porsche).

First, I am sorry you took offence. It was a general comment so I don’t know why you got your knickers on a twist. Certainly a lot of buyers will buy it because it’s what they want. Like you. Nothing wrong with that.
Others will buy it because they can afford a Cayenne.

Nothing wrong with either! Enjoy your Macan!

Damned by faint praise.

It’s too small for an SUV and the performance is not fit to wear the badge. Image wise, It’s just a WAGs wanna be trinket in these parts.

It it pays the Porsche bills then fine but it’s sad to drive past my local dealer and just see lines of Macan SUVs and little else although south east london is particularly bad for numbers of SUVs in general it does not look like Sidcup porsche OPC sell much else.

At least give the base Macan the engine out of the Boxster/Cayman and it call it fit to wear to the badge.

This base Macan would be like walking in to buy an iphone and buying the one with the crap camera and screen but hey it’s got the badge, it’s cheap and it sells.
why's it too small to be an suv. i have 1 child and its perfect size for me. currently have disco which is too big. what else would you buy? like the iphone its a great all round package.. although must admit i may well wait for the new defender!

design wise i think that the very latest Cayenne is the one to get. every single cayenne before this one looked like a dog but the latest one looks the part.

The latest disco would be an option but it appears that whomever porsche fired from their rear-end design team ended up working on the latest Disco and until they resolve the rear end it’s an embarrassment to the nation.

If i lived in Germany or USA I really like the practicality of the latest Q8. Too big for Uk, i saw someone pull up to pub car park in one during the summer, three cars had to leave before he could park it. That said it really is a true SUV as it has many thoughtful design features and it’s not just a tool mobile with big wheels.

32.8mpg! ROFLMAO. I've never had more than low-twenties, even on a motorway run, after 4 years of ownership.

...Not that I'm complaining, you understand...

+1 A lot of people don't want a coach, they just want to sit a bit higher up.

And with that engine in my golf I average 26-28mpg so in a heavier macan I imagine the 2.0t to be around 20-25

Had the latest Cayenne as a courtesy car when my Macan went in for a service, couldn't wait to get back in the Macan, dreadful insipid drive from the Cayenne.

As the risk of trying to put out a fire with a can of petrol....the Cayenne is not supposed to be a great drive as it is an SUV as in ‘utility vehicle’, supposed to carry lots of people and gear in comfort. The macan trades utility to be a sports car which rides high. Ok fine i get that part...and then they make it slower than a polo ? so now it’s a non utility vehicle which goes slow.

Why haven't Porsche put a more powerful version of the EA888 engine in the base car? The S has c100ps more, surely even 50ps more would be a big enough gap? The price difference is less than £2.5K & the S has better wheels (meaning the optional wheels are cheaper too).
they aren't

The front grill looks hideous on these things. Too tall and too wide, the bonnet and frintt body area looks like it is sitting on the incorrect running gear.

Urgh.

Clearly others disagree with my opinion, and that's perfectly okay.
