Why so much dislike for tan/Brown leather interiors?

Had tan on a Porsche a couple of years back, looked good to me but the dealer mentioned the color combo had never been ordered before.
The Brits have little imagination, most of the Porsche's in the showroom are all black interiors.
Not sure that's down to lack of imagination, people are just wary of speccing car colours that will affect resale and I bet there's many factory combos that finance companies wont entertain. The Brits have little imagination, most of the Porsche's in the showroom are all black interiors.

Back on topic, I love brown and cream interiors but only with the right colours, mostly blue unless it’s a Ferrari. Usually after I play the Euro millions, I end up on the Porsche configurator and every time I end up with a Miami blue 911 Turbo S cab with cream leather.

Probably more due to people "renting" cars then!I really don't like the black leather default choice, but tan/brown wasn't for me either.
One of mine has Pearl Grey leather, the other has Lemon leather.

In 1979 I got a Mexico Brown Rover P6B 3500S with tan PVC interior - it was even worse, but at least it had a V8.
Don't you mean leather......?Never seen a P6 with PVC interior, only leather or the cloth option after the 'box-pleat' interior was introduced. Back in the 70's one of our neighbour's had a new red 3500S with beige brushed nylon cloth 'box pleat' seats.
Black leather interior only for me, with red highlight stitching if possible but I wouldn't even go to see a car with an interior colour other than that.
May be boring, but I've got to spend the time in it, and the last thing I want is some tan / cream / red abomination grating on me every time I open the door.

Agreed. I would never look at, let alone buy a car with a leather interior that was brown, tan, red (double yuck!)..........possibly Ivory interior in a big car like a Range Rover, with a body colour such as Loire Blue.May be boring, but I've got to spend the time in it, and the last thing I want is some tan / cream / red abomination grating on me every time I open the door.
Silver exterior, black leather interior; perfect. I don't even like alcantara.

Finance companies don't care, with the masses of dull spec cars they do the occasional oddball combo won't break the bankredback911 said:

That works very well due to the black on the upper dash and steering wheel. Porsches (and other Germans) really went OTT in the 1990s by colour coding as much as possible, leading to these:The Brits have little imagination, most of the Porsche's in the showroom are all black interiors.
I own a mk5 Golf GTI with the rare (and often hated) cream interior. I went to view it with an open mind but vs its black seated brothers it feels like such a bright and airey place to be, especially with the sun roof. In the wife's words, you wouldn't decorate your house with black walls, floor and seats so why the car?
I must be odd - when I was looking to buy my previous BMW I really wanted a Le Mans blue with cream interior 330i. Just looked lovely. Weirdly I'm half thinking about changing the Golf now and a 3 series touring is on the list - Le Mans blue with cream interior being top of the list of wants.
Do agree that it doesn't work in every car though.

That's one of my favourite combo's. I stumbled across it when I bought my current car and really love it. I was actually looking for a grey one with black leather and a pano but ended up with something completely different.I must be odd - when I was looking to buy my previous BMW I really wanted a Le Mans blue with cream interior 330i. The pale leather was almost essential in my book (along with the light headlining) this one had no sunroof. I had a black/black/black on once on hire and it felt like a bunker, to me, anyway.

Not my favourite. My BIL was showing me his new 4 series one day. It looked gorgeous in what is (to me) that timeless BMW gunmetal colour and it sat on the right rims. But then he opened the door and it was overwhelmingly red. Aaaaaaarrrrghh!!! He genuinely liked it but everyone else just took the piss.Brave Fart said:
