You need to find out if the warranty kicks in at the pre registration or the actual sale date if it was sold to you as a new car.
Yep, the lease company would also be interesting to find out - did they state it was a new car when you took it on?

just got off the phone, i think the sales guy got it wrong but maybe i could be in trouble.

so spoke to the service lady, said she will book it in for the work, didn't mention the service! said to just bring the book in (always in the glove box) and they have to get nissan to ok the work. i didnt mention anything about the date or it being a pre reg. should i of said something about it? or just hand it in and wait and see what happens? either nissan say yes or no and go from there? i have now also e mailed every man and there bloody dog about this as i was worried all last night including the lease company.

hi,

it was delivered with around 60 miles as it was driven from the dealers to me which i wasnt to fussed about and i still classed it as new as it was hardly any millage.

i found out last night when i went through my lease contract and it states new car but then says REG in June.

going to call the garage back on my lunch and if no help try seeing if Nissan CS would help, also have asked the lease company for help. i know ive prob screwed myself over somewhere but thought best to be honest and try get it sorted.
I'm glad it seems to be moving forward for you and the garage is at least looking at it.

It's odd that there is contradictory information on the lease about whether or not the car was brand new when you took delivery, or whether it was registered in June.

Do you have any other information that would establish the date of reg? If it was a June 2017 car then it would have a 17 number plate whereas a November 2017 would have a 67 number plate.

The service indicator on Mrs Scrump's Nissan (not a QQ) counts down on mileage but does not indicate the time element of the schedule.
That's a bit duff if they work an either/or service schedule. I do low miles so never trouble the mileage element but my last couple of cars have told me a service is due in 30 days and then counts down.

If I'd been in your position, even if I knew the registration date, I'd be expecting to need a service at 12 months after delivery. I don't think you've done anything wrong and I'll be amazed if all this doesn't just go through as you'd expect.

Worth noting, your warranty will almost certainly expire at the anniversary of registration, not delivery, so you'll want an inspection before then.

The following comes from my years in Nissan aftersales.

Warranty starts at date of registration.

Pre reg vehicles are not new and any buyer will be the second owner, regardless of the fact that the vehicle may have only a handful of miles on the clock.

All Nissan service schedules are time or mileage whichever comes first.

The leeway allowed on services to ensure continued warranty cover was, IIRC, something like a month or 500 miles.

Once you fail to meet the schedule the warranty becomes void.

Once the warranty is void you then are in the hands of CS and asking for goodwill help, very different from warranty.

IMO the OP in this case would have been fine regarding a goodwill payment had he had the service done by a Nissan Dealer albeit a touch late.

He had it done at Halfords, by doing so has demonstrated no loyalty to the brand. Nissan are, in return, showing no loyalty to the OP.

Please don't shoot me, just laying out the position from my experience from the "inside".

Based on this the dealer LIED to the buyer as on the paperwork it says "New - Reg. in June".
If both points are correct this is misleading and should go to trading standard or the courts.
