It's because his beast of a Spec B once got "passed out" by a BMW 116d and his fragile ego can't handle it.
my ego is fine, i have no interest in BMWs less so some weedy diesels - also I dont tend to act a moron in built up areas unllike BMW owners - dont you concur?A SpecB would run rings around a little116d with ease

Don't tend to act a moron? I seem to remember you posted a dashcam clip with you driving at 40 in a 30 limit and almost causing an accident by swerving into oncoming traffic. You wouldn't accept you had done anything wrong so I doubt your driving has improved since then.
swerving to avoid someone crossing the path of a driver who had right of way and who should have yielded, i guess this is something alien to fanboys - they always have the right of way, even if they should yield. My driving is of a better standard standard than most of the diabolical standard I see on the roads in England each day tbh
btw, the facelift Legacy has Si drive and improved torque at low rpm (not including a remap which improves it further) - not that you or yonex, sideways and co would know anything about because you never have driven one or even seen one more like.
its no coincidence that most of the haters own an Audi/BMW (delete as appropriate)

I've had 3 Subarus and 2 BMWs, I know where I'd rather be sat day to day. No st a SpecB would run rings around the smallest diesel, would it run rings around a 335d? I'm a Subaru fanboy and a BMW fanboy, I also don't like "SidewaysSi" in any sense, but with how you're defending your car, which I've had to do to people on here too, all you're doing is making it worse. If you'd laid out why you like it and what's good about it without being so weirdly defensive then maybe people wouldn't be calling you a troll. I fundamentally agree with you that the SpecB is a great car, more so in estate form, but I've always thought the saloon looked smart. But it's just moronic to be comparing it to some 116d, the fact is the equivalent BMW that you could get for the same money would be just as quick, better balanced and a better steer. A 116d is not the equivalent BMW, a 330i is. Why not do as I did a long time ago, accept that PH isn't the place to share your car unless you're some director or in a Golf R and just stop digging yourself deeper.
Sometimes you need to stand up to dictators in a Golf R, do the 6 pot 330i models from 08/09 era have elec power steering? ericmcn said:

- Are you not a "fanboy"?
- Whilst I own a BMW (which is very old and wouldn't see which way a Spec B even it were even slightly damp - all good fun ), I am more a Lotus /Caterham/911 type of fellow.

TBH I probably have seen a Spec B, maybe even in 's# mode' (y0) but it's not a car to stand out, which isn't a bad thing. If you could make the distinction between 'hate' and 'not a fan of' you might be able to engage in some sort of reasonable discussion. It is just so PH to roll out the 'powerfully built Director ' and/or 'Golf R, BMW, Audi fanboy' cliches, very poor.
If you took a moment to look you would see my opinion of the current Audi is somewhere between dire and abject misery.

Let me just correct you on a couple of things.
1. If you actually read what other people posted you would know that I previously owned a Spec B for 5 years so have considerably more experience of driving one than yourself.
2. According to Subaru there is no difference in the bhp or torque of the H6 engine post facelift. Still 245 bhp @ 6600 and 297 torque@ 4200. All your much loved SI-Drive does is alter the throttle characteristics in it's 3 settings. It has no effect whatsoever on the engine output.
Or will you be telling Subaru they are morons and have got it wrong?
Now it's time to take off your fanboy blinkers and recognise that good as a Spec B is there are other cars out there that can do some things better.

dont feed the troll as they say - you have no clue what S# is no more than Thresa May - give up will you, I would be pretty confident that you never ever sat inside a Legacy, and probably 99.9% chance you never seen one of the later models before they were phased out considering they are only a handful on the road.TBH I probably have seen a Spec B, maybe even in 's# mode' (y0) but it's not a car to stand out, which isn't a bad thing. You clearly have no intention of buying one yet seem to track posts on Subaru with GPS stealth - 'locked on - target acquired'
At least I own one of these for moving onto 3 years now, and a few others have made worthwhile contributions but you.....
If i were you i would seriously chillax and spend time with your partner, kids, playstation, tv box sets, some nice wine, go travelling....rather than posting up on every other thread you see about a Subaru

bhp is the same for pre and post facelift but the facelifts have slightly improved torque at lower rpm, now get off your high horseLet me just correct you on a couple of things.

Post 06 models got a facelift / revisions -
++
AVCS on the exhaust cams = better low down torque
HID headlamps
Ipod connection
Revised interior / exterior design inc. alloys.
SI Drive - Gimmick for changing engine map/response(no different than using your right foot)
Welded braces under A pillars giving better turn in / chassis rigidity
Slightly retuned rear suspension
Heavier duty bushes
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
also backed up by a bloke on UK Legacy which i would trust far more than dictators on here who have to post up childish photos a 5 year old would be proud of to feel good, pretty sad tbh
The Si drive on the facelift model does limit the power in the [i] mode, not sure by how much but it feels like a 1.6 in that mode!
When I was buying mine there were a few other cars in the running, Saab 9-3/9-5 aero, Volvo T5 - but the Legacy won out primarily due to AWD which comes in handy for muddy fields and pulling away on wet roads.
I like the fact that no-one really knows what it is, if it was a bigger version of an Impreza you'd have 1.2l corsas trying to race it everywhere.
And completely agree with whoever said that it's quick, but not fast, in a straight line, but B roads are where it comes alive. Even in the Auto, stick it in manual mode in 3rd gear and the grip and flat cornering is awesome fun. They really do get through a lot of fuel though, that's my single complaint. 20mpg around town, 25 mixed and 30 on the motorway if you keep it at legal speeds.

Mine is a facelift manual spec B estate, bought for £4900 and is awesome. My last family car was a e91 330 estate bought for 4x as much and I prefer the legacy overall. Great handling, great noise and feels genuinely special in a way that my Alfa GTV does and the 3 series didn’t.
Also the facelift looks much better and has a much nicer interior IMO.
