Seems a lot of money for the performance. M240i with delivery miles can be had for less.

Does it look oddly tall and narrow, or has PH distorted the photos?

ETA: Its PH distorting the photos, viewing the images separately rather than inside the article makes it look less like a squished cartoon car.

I'm a big fan of the hatch after the Millbrook day. Not too sure on this, although I've seen some pics of it in red, and it looks much better IMO. The hatch looks great in that blu-tac colour, but it doesn't work so well here.

I really do hope these become as spectacularly good value on the used market as the PCP calculator suggests.

Have one of these: silly

The M240i has a list price of £38k. Comparing the discounted price of a car that's a year away from replacement with the list price of a car that's just been launched is ridiculous. I presume the M240i of which you speak is also pre-registered, aka "used".

I much prefer the hatchback.

Contrary to most it would seem, although I liked the i30N that I sampled at Millbrook I was not blown away by it and found it ok but not particularly exciting. A bit like a Golf, competent but a bit.... meh. Probably a good 2nd hand buy but I wouldn't spend nearly 30k on one.

No. Don't expect one until late 2019 if not 2020.

It’s not ridiculous at all as the bmw will have delivery mileage on it and both are similar money. If I was talking about 5 year old M3’s, that would be ridiculous.

It's entirely ridiculous. You're comparing list price with (heavily) discounted price, and a new car with a used car: irrespective of mileage, you won't get to pick the spec and you'll probably be the second owner on the V5, which will hurt its value when you come to sell it on.

Saw my first one if these today,in black. It looked very, nice. Think I still prefer the look of the hatch but this a handsome car indeed.
