Apart from the obvious hideousness a loss of 0.4 seconds 0.60 for a 25bhp reduction suggestions much bigger changes to gearing / mapping elsewhere in the system too. Sad state of affairs.
Was thinking the same - guess its a "heavy" car but with the best part of 600HP a reduction of 25 shouldn't make any real difference...

That really takes the biscuit absolutely sinful, one of the ugliest front ends I've ever seen especially given that the previous car was actual quite a handsome design better looking than the A8 or S class imo. Current 5 series is nice and new 3 looks decent enough but with the flagship 7's (X7 also) they've lost the plot completely.

All I keep seeing is China this, China that, big brands catering to them.

Do people sink 100k into luxury salons in China every day? I don’t get it, are the streets filled with long wheel base barges?

Sure they have a population of over a billion and the economy is booming but I’m sure the majority are poor over there, unless I’m missing something. The economy in places like Brazil and India is booming but that only means the rich get richer.
No, the design language of BMW trickles down from the 7/8 Series to the 1 series, and that is of assertiveness and aggression.

For a BMW owner to 'not get noticed', he has failed in that facet of his life.

Nothing to do with China at all, that's just daily mail thinking.
Yes, of course all BMW drivers are the same and only buy the cars for one reason. Seriously?

Reading through 5 pages of grille comments (the bugs bunny one made me laugh), and my only thought is 'did the pre-facelift have issues with cooling?'.
On a serious note though, it's blatant that BMW have gone after markets outside Europe with this one. Markets that like such extravagant features and bling. And it's obviously the new family grille, looking at the X7.
Maybe BMW did a Ryanair. No such thing as bad press. After all, we are all talking about it (whilst trying to hold down a good meal).

China accounted for 44% of all 7 Series sales in 2018, I don’t like it, but you can’t blame ‘em.

I was hoping it might be one of these cases where “real life” looks better than these promotional renders, but it looks even fking worse in that pic!

Overwhelming negative reaction to this face-lift and grille.
I'll reserve judgement until seen in the flesh.

Could make a great buy in 5 years at 15k.

So, to appeal to the Chinese market, they’ve made it look like a Chinese knock-off......

Gurning monstrosity. Take a leaf out of 2001 which was the last time the BMW range looked handsome, as BMWs should 🙁

The grills on 7's have been too big since the replacement for the e65 but even by BMW's that's utterly appalling. Who the fk is designing their cars and why are they in a job?

Designed by Burt Reynolds in collaboration with Tom Selleck.

Is the interior upholstered with chest wigs?

You're still not seeing it in real life, unless of course you're over in China.

American grew out of that, some time ago. Their trucks are more like this, crass and no class.
