Nice. I had a lowly 309 1.4 GL as a company car back in 1992-5. Not a lot of power but very sweet handling and a traditional French smooth ride. Far better drive than the Escort/Astra alternatives.

Oh, and boot clearly isn’t closed properly.
and use of the "GL" badging was a bit misleading back then too dont you agree? I had 4 x 309 diesels as company cars over 4 years- 3 x 1.9 GLDs and one 1.9 SRD (not the 78hp turbo but the low powered but still high torque 65hp unit - possibly 99lb/ft???).

most other makes of car at the time had a GL spec of some sort (sierra, cavalier, montego) and it often meant velour trim, electric front windows some more colour coding and wizz bang rev counter but from memory my GLD had no such fripperies. I viewed it more as L trim level.

Loved my SRD though (sunroof, electric windows, velour, better Veglia red pointer instrument cluster almost GTi looking with a rev counter nicer centre console) and often tried to convince myself that I really was driving the more powerful 1600SR or 1600 SRi (or a later GR).

luxuries aside they drove really well even heavily loaded.

Looks like it sold for 14250

Im pleased for the seller
I was bidding on it, stopped at £11.5. Thought it went for a smidge under £15k including 12% fees so £13,275 or so.
