The things you describe are, of course, nothing to do with anybody. It is a individual decision. But what we do have a right to do is to have an opinion. it is opinions, not offensive or illegal, that keep this PH going. If you agree or disagree it makes no difference to the overall ethos of this site.
Many posters on this thread have expressed the opinion that they do not like mis-spaced plates. Mostly because it is illegal, but personal plate owners always say that it is 'a bit of fun'. Far from it.
It is not at all 'sad' to express an opinion. The world is full of them.

It crosses from an opinion to something else when posters are calling people chavs etc for their choices. It matters not one jot to anyone, unless involved in the force, perhaps a few more might consider ‘illegal’ is a broad term. I’m positive most of us broke the speed limit today, you can’t roll out the legal argument and be seen to transgress it yourself smile

Just wait until they get older and they're putting complaints in that their neighbour hasn't mowed their lawn that week an it's becoming an 'eyesore'. Nowt better to do with their time lol.

Seriously, that's verging on being naff. Most normal people would put a black screw cover on the the 8. IMHO, it just takes the edge of what otherwise might be a reasonable plate.

You virtually contradict yourself by saying 'it looks a little more like ROB', which it doesn't by the way. Then you say ' If anyone can't see this is R88 then they're blind'. Why bother? Still R88, it's yours, do what you want but don't genuinely expect many people to be impressed, or even notice, for that matter.
Well, it often raises a smile, from those who know me IRL. They can 'read' it, as can the police/DVLA/ MOT testers, everyone's happy with it........ except Pistonheads biggrin

Considering that PH is the go-to, cutting edge, in demand, sought after, premier league, and quite good motoring forum, I would argue that dissent against its opinions and values are punishable by an immediate visit from a medium build filing clerk bearing thawed out sausages.

I wonder if all these PH number plate police get the same raised blood pressure and rage when someone overtakes them on the motorway when they are doing 70mph as the other person is clearly showing the highest disregard for the law by exceeding the speed limit...

I've got a private plate. It's on legal plates with no doctoring at all. Why do people cut corners spending peanuts buying the thing then try to make it look like it's..more?

It gets ire on PH because any doctoring potentially affects recognition and on a very basic level it should be in the council thread.
Correct.

And your perfectly good legal plate shows class whereas butchered chavplates shout Council city from the rooftops of Chavland. rolleyes

It is not so much about people cutting corners though.

It is Chavs. It is the established Chav mentality trying to big up something you possess due to major insecurities with your inner self. So the typical butchering Chavplater will buy a cheapo £250 plate, illegally doctor it purely in the name of their vanity then drive round thinking they are cut above everyone with legal plates just because they have a 'personalised' plate from Chavland.

Truly hilarious.

And DVLA must be pissing themselves with all these Chavs paying for crap plates and lining their coffers. hehe

So basically if you cannot afford a proper legal plate, don't bother with a crappy plate that needs butchering.

Unless of course, you are a Chav.

Maybe "A" aspiring secret agent has bought it...bowtie
I don't think you'd need a math's degree to see that the second B needs a bit of work! laugh

You are totally self obsessed and insecure. I’m not even sure you own what you say you do to be honest.

Chat plates, as you so eloquently put it are a means to draw attention. Much like a lairy Porsche 911.

Different strokes.

That's a classic plate for a BMW, it just 'fits'. I cant be bothered to work it out but what should it read?
MRS TITT. rofl

Without being stereotypical hehe that picture perfectly sums up the delusional world of the X5 vanity Chavplater:

White, probably poverty spec pcpd. Check.

Illegal number plate font. Check.

Illegally spaced plate. Check.

Illegally butchered plate. Check.

Illegally parked causing an obstruction. Check.

Extra knob points for grossly inappropriate desperate and fake M badging. Check.

A cringefest tragedy Mrs Titt. rofl

Chav.

Not chat.

Weak argument btw. Apples pears and all that.

And totally irrelevant to the thread.

But if you find a standard new GT2 or GT3 'lairy', feel free to let Porsche know of your Daily Mail outrage.

I am sure they will instruct their design team accordingly.

Just for you. rofl

It's just fact, sorry if it pisses you all off, make you 'cringe' or whatever. Try growing up and getting some understanding of logic and how to actually perform valid comparisons rather than being daft!

It’s not me worried about others choices, not even those that might not actually own the cars they say wink

But, that’s another story.
