They're all chavtastic.

Apart from the ones you personally deem to be ok.

In other words, everyone has their own opinion, their own line in the sand.

Shall we argue about it for another 20 pages now?
Errr no, I don't deem any to be okay. They're all chavvy, other than in rare instances where maybe some old duffer has had the same reg on his cars since 1950.

I simply don't understand the argument that ones spaced correctly are automatically classy, and those spaced incorrectly aren't. Like with anything there's subtleties, not everything is black and white. However for me the point remains that anyone spending anything other than the absolute bare minimum on bits of white/yellow plastic is likely doing it for the reaction they'll get, usually because they think that it makes them look like they have money (whether they have or or), and to me thats very chavvy.

You don't deem any to be ok. Other than the ones you deem to be ok.

Is it just me?

I'm more interested in what he might drive, is there a correlation of this weird snobbery and not actually having such a wonderful vehicle on your own drive?

It's always the most insufferable snobs that oddly don't have a garage on their profile.

Hope you don't mean me, as I'm certainly not snobby, in fact I'm the one arguing that all private plates are much the same, unlike those claiming that there are upper class plates and chav plates.... they're all the same.... bits of ugly plastic laugh.

And aye my car is ste currently, but needs must with a house to renovate.

The intention of course is to take the piss out of anyone pretending to have a Real Good plate when they very obviously haven't.

No different to doing the same with somebody trying to pass a fake Rolex off as a real one or sticking M badges on a wheezy 4 pot diesel or pretending their suit from Romford market was made in Saville row or smothering themselves in fake tan trying to give everybody the impression they've just got back from a month on a super yacht in the Caribbean.

It's all about the egotism and vanity of pretending to be something you're not.

If you're not guilty of that particular fkuckwittery yourself then you've got absolutely nothing to get upset about. If on the other hand you are, well... bring it on. smile
What exactly has it got to do with you if somebody wants to wear a fake Rolex? Similarly a private plate, spaced how they want it. Answer, nothing. By the way, you come across as incredibly insecure, as do all of those so deeply concerned that others aren’t confirming to their personal views. I think it’s funnier being so aloof about someone’s ‘wheezy for pot diesel’ when you drive an ancient wheezy Jaguar, but I wouldn’t be so crass as to use it as a lame excuse to have a childish pop.

What are those complaining actually missing in their lives? Is it a conservative thing, group mentality, dislike of the unknown or of individuality?

It’s funny, but equally a bit sad.
The things you describe are, of course, nothing to do with anybody. It is a individual decision. But what we do have a right to do is to have an opinion. it is opinions, not offensive or illegal, that keep this PH going. If you agree or disagree it makes no difference to the overall ethos of this site.
Many posters on this thread have expressed the opinion that they do not like mis-spaced plates. Mostly because it is illegal, but personal plate owners always say that it is 'a bit of fun'. Far from it.
It is not at all 'sad' to express an opinion. The world is full of them.

Problem with opinions though is they're like aholes - everybody's got one but nobody much likes anybody else's.

No, better I think to attend solely to the facts because then of course only a congenital idiot would pick an argument over them and there's only two facts relevant to number plates. The first being the fact you absolutely cant spell anything with numbers and the second is the legal requirements for displaying number plates are laid out as facts in BS AU145d.

Chuck those two facts in the room whenever number plates are being discussed and see what happens. Pretty soon you'll get a response from a Chavplater ignoring one or quite possibly both of those facts because he's blinded to them by his own ego and who isn't smart enough to actually realise that by challenging those facts he's simply digging a hole for himself.

The more hostile and abusive and Jeremy Kyle-esque the Chavplater response is then the bigger and deeper the hole he's digging for himself gets.

You see, the thing is, I really, really don't care about what other people chose to own. There are cars which I think are horrendous, but in the past when I have tried them I have always managed to find 'something' about them which struck a chord. Even the utterly hopeless A4 has a couple of redeeming features, both so insignificant in the great scheme of things but in isolation actually well thought out.

It's more when you have childish name calling all due to a number plate, it's just a bit moronic, as is re-posting things and laughing at your own post about a BMW parked on a pavement. What does that say about someone I wonder?

The legal argument is utter nonsense, everyone breaks traffic law pretty much every day. It's a choice, do you pull others up on a choice of watch, in fact a choice of anything? Of course not, but it's fine to call people 'chavs' etc because they choose to buy a certain number plate.

I think to be interested to the point where you repeatedly post pictures on a PH thread is actually bordering on a mental problem, insecurity or just having sod all to do each day biggrin

Have you ever heard the analogy about Religion, the common vocal atheist is actually as annoying as a regular church going bible basher.

They just shout at polar opposites. I suggest you are no better than anyone else, worse actually, as you never stop banging on about such a trivial matter.

I think name calling strangers, simply because you don't like their number-plate makes you the special one. Who are you to suggest what people can and cannot afford?

Typical 911 owner. At least have a special one if you’re going to play the snob card.
