Clearing my dad's bits and bobs I came across complete sets of aircraft magazines dating back to the 40s. A specialist dealer I emailed replied that he didn't want them as a gift, he couldn't shift what he had and he was going to give up being a dealer. I did manage to give them to an enthusiast.

I take my old car magazines to a local hospice. They are placed in the lounge area of the In-patients ward & sometimes in the day hospice unit.

This is what I'm hoping will happen with my dad's railway stuff.

I'm having to put in a lot of work. I've joined FB groups that I have no personal interest in. I've had responses that sound positive, but then communication just stops and I'm back to square one. It's getting to the point that I'll give them to my son to put in his log burner weeping .

Cancer Research took a couple of boxes of books, but wouldn't take the magazines.

+1 thats a great idea.

When I’ve got rid of piles of car mags I drop them off at my local Dr and dentist waiting room
And local tyre cutters customer area. Shame to see them go to recycling was happy to drop them off.

I put my old Evo collection on ebay for £50 plus postage (make sure you check postage, magazines aren't cheap!!!) Thinking of doing the same with a bunch of Car now as I have far too many. Nearly 25 years worth before I gave up buying them when they became German Car a few years back.

I recently offloaded 3 boxes of magazines at an old-age home / retirement village. A mix of aviation, cars, bikes and fly-fishing. They were extremely appreciative, since they typically get tons of women's magazines, but relatively few that the guys would like to read.

I give mine (via my father in law) to the local dialysis centre. Love the fact that they are enjoyed by several people, and the poor so and sos must get horribly bored in there.

Last year I gave about 100 copies of evo to a PHer in return for a bottle of wine (see page 1 of this thread!) as the only alternative I could see was selling them individually on eBay which I have neither time nor patience for. I wanted them to be read and my son was not fully excited about having them (the shame). In fact, it was my 4 year old daughter who rescued a couple of key Pagani/Lambo issues if I remember, one of which turned out to have an article in it that I’d written!

If anyone has any classic and sports cars they want rid of, I'm your man. I am a massive loser and collect them, I have some gaps in my collection, especially around the 90's.

I'm not Shmee150 with that kind of money... I would always sell a classic car if I owned one rather than just "get rid" tongue outwink

Seems on the basis of this thread you should have said thanks to him smile
