I just posted about this in the other thread sorry but are the seats just the same as the rest of the range? (no AMG buckets like the rest of Europe)
Yes and sadly they are not available as on option either

Tastes differ. Every time I see one in the flesh, it immediately strikes me as a fresh good looking design, much better than the old one which I never really liked.
Agree with that. But will probably wait for A45.....

£48,000 - you are having a laugh. I am sure the authors of these articles write them in a controversial way, just to get comments.

Let it stay in Germany.
That list price with loads of options, they will move precisely none if that's the only deal, most will be PCP'd or leased for £300 a month or so.

For c. £32k I think this is decent value, providing you don't then go mental with the options.

You can lease for under £300 a month as well so expect to see a few on the roads soon.

This is not a detuned M176, that monster of a four-cylinder found in the A-Class flagship
Isn't the M176 the V8 in the C63? I thought the A45 was an M133

The M140i has the B58 engine and RWD. It is the two things that always get mentioned, a straight six and rwd,

Who writes this unrelenting, unfounded p1sh?!?

You lost me when you said the m140i was lacking a great engine. It's 6 cylinder is only matched by the lump in the RS3. That, and it being RWD mean in 5 years time we'll all be wishing they still made it.
Thank God someone else gets it.

The colour puts me off straight away(God knows why the colour Grey is the biggest seller in the UK with new cars), it just looks so dull/bland to me. I quite like the idea of this...although in some ways I can't see the point of it when the A45 is coming.

I wonder how many options are really needed and how many aren't?

I say that as I can imagine if you want the car to look good i.e. the bodykit and then have the tech on offer you will need to speak close to £45k for a pretend AMG.

Those waiting for the A45 are going to be met with some eye watering prices. I would bet that a fairly well specced A45 will come in more expensive than a similarly specced M4 Comp Pack and on a PCP deal probably a whole lot more expensive. It's going to take some brave deep pockets!

MB seem to have become the BMW of the 90's where all the key options are priced very high.

Completely agree, that's the whole attraction of the M140i.. the engine that is more potent than the N55 in the M2.

Frankly I haven't read a decent article on here by Matt Bird, his last article on the M140i was quoting you could buy one for £14k and remap it to 440bhp. I think he assumed an early M135i had the same B58 engine and hence the same output from a remap. No excuse for poor product knowledge.

Unfortunately articles on PH seem to be of a wildly variable standard and are often little more than some of the samey forum replies:

There's no manual (nobody buys manuals)

It's not 20k new (it's not 1992 any more)

Too many electric nannies (Being dead sucks)

Motoring journalists seem to be a bit out of touch with what people want to buy/use/own these days...

Yep, these do absolutely nothing for me. At that price point, if I wanted a 4 x 4 hatch, I think I'd be waiting for the Mk8 Golf R, which gets a small power hike and seems to me a more rounded 365 days a year car. For a fun car, the RWD M140i is certainly very appealing. I don't know why, but since the M135i was launched I've really fancied one and I'm not a BMW person by any stretch of the imagination. I think the fact that all the journos say its rough around the edges makes it even more appealing with that engine. Modern day Sunbeam Lotus? Sort of?

Modern day Sunbeam Lotus? Definitely not. As a former M135i owner the good points were a sublime engine, good brakes & decent gearbox. The chassis was a mess, damper control was piss poor. Steering feel was absolutely woeful. Hit a bumpy road and try and cover ground quickly in a standard M135i and you will know about it. Also lacked a LSD. Chuck some decent supension on it and a LSD and it was a far better proposition. PH ran one and did all the upgrades to it. Someone with more time and patience than myself might pop up a link to the articles.

I really do like that Interior.
I just can't see past the love child of a massive iPad & a Rover SD1 in the dial area (I assume this design makes putting bigger/better iPads in on the facelift version very easy).

I really like the interior too, but the price of this thing is ridiculous as is the wing. A lesser version might be the next car of choice for me.

This looks like a good article on an interesting car I thought.

I got as far as where the article mentioned £48k and stopped at that point. Seriously? For not even the hot AMG A45 version. Not for me thanks.
Theres £13K of options on that car, so clearly put together by Mercedes to showcase the tech rather than be a typical build.

Drivethedeal are already offering the standard car for £32,713.
I almost wish they would do an alternative review of cars without all the fancy options ticked. Would make it easier to compare cars for the lower price they go for. Or maybe a 'non fancy options special showdown' between rival cars every once in a while.

Not that this is in my price bracket or type of drive I would be after, but 48k seems crazy. 33k sounds more reasonable given the price.

For M140i BSR is offering 402bhp ...ECU mod only......https://en.bsr.se/tuning-kits/t/4087/bmw-m140i-340hp-2016-2019-b58-b30

I have to say this is badge dilution gone to far this should have been a sport model at 35k it's on the money in terms of it's rivals (obviously at 48k that's a step to far but you can spec a Golf to similar levels so that's down to individuals needs) also it was never going to be great as that's the A45's (which was even more reason not to put an AMG badge near it) job. Judging the cars character on winter tyres is a bit tough imo.
