For those of you upset by the internal nightclub lights - they're optional in that they don't have to be on.

A 4 door coupe! Does a car stop being called a hatchback when it reaches a certain size or a certain price?

As for that interior lighting. This is what happens when someone who grew up avidly reading Max Power is promoted to a "sign off" position at a car company.

They should do a 2 door fastback version of this. That might be quite nice.

In the past, at least you got a V12 for your trouble; when you paid crazy money for the 'top of the line' Benz GT...

Not sure what the premium is for these days, with all the superfluous platform sharing going on.

That interior frankly is awful, That dashboard hurl

I'd love to slag this big barge off, because I love B roads and smaller cars.

But.....

https://youtu.be/CG7Cmv46avA?t=303 fk YEAH.

AMG have gone from all that power in that straight line to allowing you to use most of that power around the corners with the dog on board.

I hate this sort of stuff normally, but if you have to sniff the fatboy wisp, this is the one to go for.

We need a PH school run in one of these obese bad boys !

It will be the only the cool car there, and then getting the dog for his walk really quickly point to point.

A sleeper .... beer

At the risk of being visited by the parrot...

A grille the size of a small continent
two bonnet bulges
49" wheels
V8TurbonutterAMGwotsit emblazoned down the side and rear
4 enormous (false) exhaust exit points in rear apron (I'm making the assumption there are four considerably smaller pipes hidden in the surrounds in true modern fashion.

A sleeper it is not

Okay, so looking at the side profile, I question whether someone like me could be comfortable in the back. I'm 6'4", and the way the roof line appears to taper at the rear, I'm guessing I wouldn't fit comfortably in the back.

Just the idea of a 4 door coupe, seems a little odd to me as a consequence.
You’d fit in the back of a Panamera no problem. The project leader was something like 6’8” apparently and insisted on being able to ft in every seat in the car, albeit probably not behind someone of his stature. I’m 6’10” and the Panamera is great for me.

The CLS 63AMG shootingbrake, is better looking, same underpinnings, same running gear, more practical and 30-40% cheaper - no brainer!

Also something that I find really dissappointing in a car of this value, is how utterly crap the cavity left by the extended wing looks. Make a fixed wing that looks good all the time OR engineer a solution that looks as neat up as it does down. Unacceptable IMO for a car of this cost and perceived quality!!!
Couldn't agree more with that, it;s one of the first things that popped out to me.. really poor attention to detail.

I don't like the merc approach to 'we will make every car in every configuration' at the best of times, but I really think this thing looks awkwardly styled, dare I say it, even boarderline ugly :/ will reserve judgement until up close though..

Audi are dressing up their Q7 into a Porsche Cayenne Turbo frock, and then adding more tinsel and boob tape to create the Lambo SUV, and finding no problem homing them for over £200k.

Why would Mercedes not want to do the same for their "Calibra to its Cavalier" E63 AMG??

They've missed a trick there, as they could have easily included some illuminated clear tubes with bubbles and water pumping around the dash.

Overall I like it, it does have some awkward proportions at the back but overall it's certainly better looking than the current CLS despite being incredibly similar.

The trouble is that ultimately this is the new CLS63 and yet it's a lot more expensive because it's a called a GT. I've no doubt it's a terrific car to drive and if you want a car that does everything, fast, high spec, put the family in this has to be up there.

But that said, will this offer you that price difference more as a whole more than an E63? Debatable.

Personally I'm sticking with my CLS63 and I'll save my pennies for an AMG GT with two doors as to have alongside it. smile

And under the skin it's actually an E class or CLS class.

A glorious way for MB to make money.

And the E class is better looking.

But given my experiences with numerous Mercedes I would find a car from another manufacturer.

My advice - buy the Porsche.

The depreciation on this thing surely is going to be off the chart.... when you think you can get a 6 month old M5 for under £70k i.e. half the price. I’ve honestly no idea who they think is going to buy this?
